Slitherine Software UK Limited is a British video game developer and publisher founded on 25 June 2000. It is responsible for the production of a range of over 200 strategy and war video games for PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS2, PS3, PS4, Wii, DS, iOS, Android and Mac. It also produces rules for a series of tabletop wargames called ''Field of Glory''. Slitherine acquired Matrix Games in 2010. Slitherine works with the US military and defense contractors to supply simulation software. The primary simulation is a professional version of the commercial game Command Modern Air & Naval Operations. ''Spartan'' is a computer wargame developed by Slitherine Strategies in 2004. The game is set in ancient Greece and Asia Minor. ''Spartan'' is a turn-based game; however, when armies encounter each other in battle the game switches to real time combat available in both 2D and 3D visuals. Most reviewers were positive about the extent of simulated real history present in the game but were critical of how timid the AI is which hampered the playing experience. Gameplay Tactical game The player deploys their forces behind a start line, usually with the benefit of some information about the enemy deployment. They are also able to give some limited orders such as hold or advance. When the battle is started the player has very limited control over events - something which was very much the case for generals of the period it depicts. Afghanistan '11
''Afghanistan '11'' is a turn-based strategy computer wargame developed in 2017 by ''Every Single Soldier'', and published by Slitherine Software. Set during the War in Afghanistan, the player controls an American forward operating base who is tasked with capturing a series of villages from the Taliban, while winning the hearts and minds of the local population, and then transferring control of the area to the Afghan National Army. Gameplay In ''Afghanistan '11,'' the player controls the US military, who capture an area owned by the Taliban. The game can be played either as part of an 18-level campaign, or a single skirmish. Games last 60 turns, and on the 50th turn, the US military will withdraw from the area, leaving it in control of the Afghan National Army (ANA), who the US will have been training until this point, and now must defend it until the 60th turn. Chariots Of War
''Chariots of War'' is an isometric 2D computer wargame, developed by Slitherine Software and Paradox Interactive, and published by Strategy First. It is set in the ancient Near East. Gameplay The strategic layer of ''Chariots of War'' is turn-based, though unlike ''Civilization'', the focus is almost entirely on real-time tactical combat. The game is similar to Slitherine's earlier wargame ''Legion'', and uses the same graphics engine. There are 58 different civilizations to play, all divided into the following ethnic groups: * Assyrian * Bedouin * Egyptian * Hittites * Mitanni * Nubian * Skythian (Scythian) * Summerian (Sumerian) * Syrian * Tribal There are nine different resources to collect (food, building materials, copper, tin, wood, gold, gems, incense, and horses), which are used to construct buildings and units.
