Slim Branham
Finis Ernest Branham (April 7, 1900 – January 19, 1957), nicknamed "Slim", was an American Negro league pitcher between 1920 and 1932. A native of Castalian Springs, Tennessee, Branham made his Negro leagues debut in 1920 with the Dayton Marcos. He went on to play for several teams, and finished his career in 1932 with the New York Black Yankees. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. Indianapolis ABCs (1931–1933) Players
The Indianapolis ABCs were a Negro league baseball team that played both as an independent club and as a charter member of the first Negro National League (NNL). They claimed the western championship of black baseball in 1915 and 1916, and finished second in the 1922 NNL. Among their best players were Baseball Hall of Fame members Oscar Charleston, Biz Mackey, and Ben Taylor. Founding Originally organized by the American Brewing Company (thus "A.B.C.s") in the early 20th century, the team was managed by Ran Butler in 1911.
