Sligo Creek Parkway is a two-lane at-grade automobile parkway in Montgomery County, Maryland, Montgomery County in the U.S. state of Maryland. The two-lane parkway runs from Maryland Route 650 (MD 650) in Takoma Park, Maryland, Takoma Park through Silver Spring, Maryland, Silver Spring north to Maryland Route 193, MD 193 in Wheaton, Maryland, Maryland. Sligo Creek Parkway parallels Sligo Creek and the Sligo Creek Trail as it passes through various units of Sligo Creek Park and by a variety of recreational facilities. The parkway is maintained by the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission. Sligo Creek Parkway is closed to trucks at all times. The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) is a bi-county agency that administers parks and planning in Montgomery and Prince George's counties in Maryland. New Hampshire Avenue is a diagonal street in Washington, D.C., beginning at the Kennedy Center and extending northeast for about 5 miles (8 km) and then continuing into Maryland where it is designated Maryland Route 650. Kemp Mill is a census-designated place and an unincorporated census area in Montgomery County, Maryland, United States. The population was 13,378 at the 2020 census. Kemp Mill census area consists of the separate communities of Kemp Mill Estates and Kemp Mill Farms. History Kemp Mill was first developed in the 1950s as an exclusively white community. Known as Wayne Avenue, the highway runs from U.S. Route 29 (US 29) east to Flower Avenue within Silver Spring in southeastern Montgomery County. The Carroll Avenue bridge is a triple-span, reinforced concrete, open spandrel arch bridge crossing the Sligo Creek Parkway in Takoma Park, Maryland. Background The first bridge crossing Sligo Creek in the area, a low-level wooden structure, was built to the east of the present bridge in 1878. A reinforced concrete bridge over Sligo Creek was built on the location of the present bridge in 1909, connecting Washington and the Washington Sanatarium, which had been completed in 1907 on the site of what is now Washington Adventist Hospital.
