Sleeping With Ghosts (song)
"Sleeping with Ghosts" is the title cut from Placebo's fourth album, ''Sleeping with Ghosts''. The song is a depiction of how, "Soulmates never die", or in more simple terms, how true friendships/relationships never end, linking it with the album's concept of relationships. The song's composition is softer compared to the other songs of the album, it features lighter, slower guitar and more piano than other titles. The chorus line, "Soulmates never die", was used as the title for the live DVD, ''Soulmates Never Die (Live in Paris 2003)''. The song was re-recorded as a B-side for the single " This Picture" and called simply "Soulmates". "Soulmates" is a slightly heavier attempt than the album version and is often played live. There is a piano version of the song on the bonus disc of the Battle for the Sun redux version. When played live, Brian Molko Brian Molko (born 10 December 1972) is a Belgian-born Scottish-American musician and songwriter. He is best known as the lead vocal ...

Placebo (band)
Placebo are a British rock band, formed in London in 1994 by vocalist–guitarist Brian Molko and bassist–guitarist Stefan Olsdal. Drummer Robert Schultzberg joined in late 1994, but left in 1996 shortly after the release of the band's eponymous debut album due to conflicts with Molko, and was replaced the same year by Steve Hewitt. Following the release of a demo, a split single, and their eponymous debut album, Placebo gained exposure in 1997 after the single " Nancy Boy" became popular in the UK, a song notorious at the time for its gender-bending content. The band stood out amongst the Britpop scene they were associated with at the time for their androgynous appearance and musical content, and lyrics which openly discussed sexuality, mental health, and drug use. Hewitt left Placebo in 2007, due to personal and musical differences. He was replaced the following year by Steve Forrest. Placebo released two albums with Forrest, who left in 2015 to pursue his own musical ...

Soulmates Never Die (Live In Paris 2003)
''Soulmates Never Die (Live in Paris 2003)'' is a live album, live DVD by English alternative rock band Placebo (band), Placebo, recorded on 18 October 2003 at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy in Paris. It is the first DVD by Placebo that was released mainstream and made available worldwide. The DVD was released in the UK on 15 March 2004 and in the US and Canada on 29 June 2004. Reception Tim DiGravina of AllMusic wrote that "the film is an intensely edgy portrait of Placebo as a trio of arena rock gods [...] [Brian Molko's] voice is still in fine form, his and Stefan Olsdal's guitars are as fierce and crunchy as ever, and Steve Hewitt's drumming is spot-on. Every one of the 21 songs is tackled with conviction and passion. Indeed, most of the songs sound fuller and better here than on their respective albums." Track listing #"Bulletproof Cupid" #"Allergic (To Thoughts of Mother Earth)" #"Every You Every Me" #"Bionic" #"Protège-Moi" (French version of "Protect Me From What ...

Songs Written By William Patrick Lloyd
A song is a musical composition intended to be performed by the human voice. This is often done at distinct and fixed pitches (melodies) using patterns of sound and silence. Songs contain various forms, such as those including the repetition and variation of sections. Written words created specifically for music, or for which music is specifically created, are called lyrics. If a pre-existing poem is set to composed music in classical music it is an art song. Songs that are sung on repeated pitches without distinct contours and patterns that rise and fall are called chants. Songs composed in a simple style that are learned informally "by ear" are often referred to as folk songs. Songs that are composed for professional singers who sell their recordings or live shows to the mass market are called popular songs. These songs, which have broad appeal, are often composed by professional songwriters, composers, and lyricists. Art songs are composed by trained classical composers fo ...

Placebo (band) Songs
A placebo ( ) is a substance or treatment which is designed to have no therapeutic value. Common placebos include inert tablets (like sugar pills), inert injections (like Saline (medicine), saline), sham surgery, and other procedures. In general, placebos can affect how patients perceive their condition and encourage the body's chemical processes for relieving pain and a few other symptoms, but have no impact on the disease itself. Improvements that patients experience after being treated with a placebo can also be due to unrelated factors, such as regression to the mean (a statistical effect where an unusually high or low measurement is likely to be followed by a less extreme one). The use of placebos in clinical medicine raises ethical concerns, especially if they are disguised as an active treatment, as this introduces dishonesty into the doctor–patient relationship and bypasses informed consent. While it was once assumed that this deception was necessary for placebos to hav ...

This Picture (song)
"This Picture" is a single by British alternative rock band Placebo, from their fourth studio album, ''Sleeping with Ghosts'', released on 9 June 2003. It was the second single off of the album. "This Picture" was remixed by Junior Sanchez for the bonus remix CD of '' Once More with Feeling''. Lyrics It tells the story of a relationship involving sadomasochism and an abusive female in a position of dominance. In the lyrics, the phrase "ashtray girl" is meant to refer to a woman who uses her partner as an "emotional ashtray"; "cigarette burns on my chest" makes reference to a supposed particular fetish of James Dean. As singer/lyricist Brian Molko commented, prior to its performance at a concert, There's an old story that somebody told me once about James Dean. For those of you who don't know this yet, James Dean was gay. Yes, I'm sorry, it's true. He had a particular fetish where he liked to have cigarettes stubbed out on his chest. That's kind of an image that's always stayed wi ...
