''Slavné historky zbojnické'' (Famous Bandit Stories) is a Czechoslovak adventure historical television series filmed in 1985. Six 59 minute episodes were filmed. The series was directed by Hynek Bočan. Every episode tells a story of famous bandit. It shows harsh reality of bandit life. Every episode started with the narrator introducing the main character's personality to the audience. Hynek Bočan
Hynek Bočan (Born 29 April 1938) is a Czech film director and screenwriter. He started his studies at Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague when he was 18 years old. He started as an assistant director on movies ''Ninety Degrees in the Shade'', ''Diamonds of the Night'' or '' Ikarie XB-1''. His first movie was an adaptation of Milan Kundera's story '' Nobody Gets the Last Laugh'' in 1965. Sándor Rózsa
Sándor Rózsa (born July 10, 1813, Röszke – died November 22, 1878, Szamosújvár) was a Hungarian outlaw (in Hungarian: ''betyár'') from the Great Hungarian Plain. He is the best-known Hungarian highwayman; his life inspired numerous writers, notably Zsigmond Móricz and Gyula Krúdy. He enjoyed much the same esteem as English highwayman Dick Turpin, with elements of Robin Hood thrown in for good measure. Rózsa, like Jóska Sobri, is one of the most famous Hungarian betyárs (bandits). Biography It was at the age of 23 (1836) when he first was sent to jail in Szeged. After escaping he chose the life of a highwayman and a number of bloody and infamous acts made his name well-known. In October 1848 on behalf of the Committee of Defence (''Honvédelmi Bizottmány''), he joined the Hungarian Revolution of 1848 with his company of 150. Schinderhannes
Johannes Bückler (c.1778 – 21 November 1803) was a German outlaw who orchestrated one of the most famous crime sprees in German history. He has been nicknamed Schinderhannes and Schinnerhannes in German and John the Scorcher, John the Flayer and the Robber of the Rhine in English. He was born at Miehlen, the son of Johann and Anna Maria Bückler. He began an apprenticeship to a tanner but turned to petty theft. At 16 he was arrested for stealing some of the skins, but he escaped detention. He then turned to break-ins and armed robbery on both sides of the Rhine, which was the border between France and the Holy Roman Empire. The legend of Schinderhannes truly emerged from his escape from a prison tower in Simmern, a market town in the Hunsrück region of the Rhineland. Johann Georg Grasel
Johann Georg Grasel ( cs, Jan Jiří Grasel; 4 April 1790 – 31 January 1818) was a Czech robber and murderer. His name is used in Czech as a common term for a rascal or villain (''grázl'') to this day. Biography Grasel was born in Nové Syrovice into the poor family of a knacker. Both his father and his mother helped themselves by stealing, occasionally ending up in prison. Young Johann was forced to steal to survive and at the age of 9 he entered prison for the first time (for 2 weeks). Grasel became leader of several groups of brutal robbers in south Moravia and northern Lower Austria. He managed to escape from prison several times. In 1815 he and his group of 66 were caught by the authorities. Grasel was accused of 205 crimes, including several murders and sentenced to death. Sixty thousand people watched when he and his two colleagues were hanged in Vienna; when Grasel saw the crowds, he uttered his last words: "Jesus, so many people".
