Slave Of Rome
''Slave of Rome'' ( it, La schiava di Roma, also known as ''Slave Warrior'') is a 1961 Italian peplum film written and directed by Sergio Grieco and starring Rossana Podestà and Guy Madison. Plot The peace treaty with Rome was broken when Gaius Valerius and his legion were wiped out by a tribe of Gauls led by Lysircos, so Julius Caesar gave his son, Tribune Marcus Valerius and his British and German auxiliary legionaries, who were loyal to his father a chance to avenge his death. Caesar wants to extend his frontiers in Gaul and stop the tribes from joining those of Vercingetorix, the leader of all the Gallic tribes. Among the other tribal leaders, Modius wants to renew the peace treaty with Rome, acknowledging their superior power and wants peace for his beautiful daughter Antea, but Lysiricos wants the Romans out of Gaul. Sergio Grieco
Sergio Grieco (13 January 1917 – 30 March 1982) was an Italian film director and screenwriter. Biography Sergio's father was the Italian Communist Ruggero Grieco. Grieco first started in film in the Soviet Union in 1931, working as an assistant to Nikolai Ekk on the first Soviet sound film '' Road to Life''. He began his Italian film career as a script supervisor in 1939, working his way up to an assistant director the following year. In 1949 he worked as an assistant to René Clément on his film ''The Walls of Malapaga'' (1949). His directorial debut was ''Il sentiero dell'odio'' (1950), beginning a prolific career in a variety of genres. He met his wife Teresa Terrone (renamed Susan Terry by her agent), who appeared in several of his films, beginning with ''The Mysterious Swordsman''/''Lo spadaccino misterioso'' in 1955. Raf Baldassarre (17 January 1932 - 11 January 1995) was an Italian film actor. Life and career Born Raffaele Baldassarre in Giurdignano, Lecce, Apulia, he started his career in the late 1950s, being cast in many peplum and adventure films, alternating between stereotypical roles of the young villain and the loyal friend of the protagonist. Following a fashion of the time for American-sounding stage names, in the second half of the 1960s he was credited "Ralph Baldwyn" or "Ralph Baldwin" in several Spaghetti Westerns. Nazzareno Zamperla (25 April 1937 – 19 March 2020) was an Italian actor and stuntman. Career Born in Treviso into a circus family, Zamperla came to Rome in 1949 and worked primarily in the 1950s and 1960s as a stunt performer. His focus was on the sword and sandal films. In the 1960s and 1970s, he transitioned into appearances as an actor in front of the camera, and his focus shifted to Spaghetti Western productions, where he was also known under the name of Nick Anderson, while also continuing working behind the camera as a gun master.
