Robert Emmet's Gaelic Athletic Club Slaughtneil ( ga, CLG Roibeard Éiméid Sleacht Néill) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based on the townland of Slaughtneil, near Maghera, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. The club is a member of Derry GAA and competes in Gaelic football, hurling and camogie. The club is named after Irish patriot and revolutionary Robert Emmet and the club plays its home games at Emmet Park. Slaughtneil have won the Derry Senior Football Championship six times and the Derry Senior Hurling Championship 16 times. Slaughtneil also won their first Derry senior camogie championship in 2012, and has since won three All-Ireland Senior Club Camogie Championship titles. Slaughtneil won "Club of the Year" at the 2000 Ulster GAA Writer's Association Awards. Ulster Senior Club Football Championship
The Ulster Senior Club Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football competition played between the top clubs in Ulster GAA. The trophy awarded to the winners is the Seamus McFerran Cup ( ga, Corn Shéamuis Mhic Fearáin). The winners and the Connacht, Leinster, Munster and London champions compete in the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship. Glen are the current champions, having beaten Kilcoo in the 2022 final. Crossmaglen Rangers from Armagh have won the most titles with eleven wins. Cormac O'Doherty
Cormac O'Doherty (born 1996) is a dual player of Gaelic games, i.e. hurling and Gaelic football, who plays for Derry Championship club Slaughtneil and at inter-county level for the Derry senior hurling team. He usually lines out at midfield and is captain of the team for the 2021 season. Career O'Doherty first came to Gaelic games prominence as a student at St Patrick's College in Maghera, winning consecutive MacRory Cup titles and a Hogan Cup title in 2013. He joined the Slaughtneil senior hurling and football teams. Since his debut as a dual player, he won six Ulster Club Championship titles and 13 County Championship titles across both codes. O'Doherty first appeared on the inter-county scene during a three-year tenure with the Derry minor team, before later winning an Ulster Championship title with the under-21 team. Chrissy McKaigue
Christopher "Chrissy" McKaigue (born 13 July 1989) is an Irish Gaelic footballer who plays for the Derry county team. McKaigue plays club football and hurling for Slaughtneil Robert Emmet's. He is a defender in football and a half forward in hurling. He has represented Ireland in the International Rules Series. Personal life McKaigue is from Slaughtneil. He went to secondary school at St Patrick's College, Maghera. McKaigue also works at Gaelcholáiste Dhoire as a Physical Education teacher and is a Gaeilge learner. Francis McEldowney
Francis McEldowney (born 24 April 1981) is a dual player of Gaelic games who plays Gaelic football for the Derry county team, with whom he won a National League title. McEldowney plays his club football and hurling for Robert Emmet's Slaughtneil, with whom he won three Derry Senior Football Championship and Derry Senior Hurling Championship. His twin brother Fergal also played for Derry in the past. Playing career Inter-county 2004 was McEldowney's debut year and was ever-present for Derry in that year's Championship. Patsy Bradley
Patsy Bradley is a Gaelic footballer who plays for the Robert Emmet's Slaughtneil club and the Derry county team. He has won a National League title with his county and the Derry Senior Football Championship with his club. For both club and county Bradley usually plays in midfield. The Ulster Senior Club Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the AIB Ulster GAA Hurling Senior Club Championship) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Ulster GAA, Ulster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association and contested by the champion hurling teams in the province of Ulster in Ireland. The Derry Intermediate Football Championship (currently also known for sponsorship reasons as the ''M&L Contracts Derry Intermediate Football Championship'') is an annual competition between the mid-tier Gaelic football clubs affiliated to Derry GAA. Format The competition traditionally took the structure of an open-draw knock-out. In 2007 and 2008, the championship was altered to include a round robin, group structure with the 16 teams divided into four groups. Each club in a group played each other once with the top two in each group advancing to the quarter-finals. From the quarter-finals onwards the competition took the format of a knock-out. 2020 Derry Senior Football Championship
The 2020 Derry Senior Football Championship was the 97th edition of Derry GAA's premier gaelic football tournament for the top clubs. The sixteen teams who qualified for the 2020 senior championship are explained in the 'Competition Format' section below. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all Gaelic Game activity was suspended in March. As a result the 2020 Derry senior championship was changed to an initial group structure where each team played three games before playing at least one game in the final knockout stage.
