Slapdee
Mwila Musonda (born April 27, 1987), known professionally as Slapdee, is a Zambian African hip hop, hip hop and rap musician. Having won multiple awards since his debut in 2006, he is often regarded one of the pioneers of Zambian hip-hop. Early life Slapdee was raised by his aunt, after losing his parents and brother. Because of his aunt’s career, he moved around often, even attending schools in Botswana and South Africa. During his high school years, Slapdee returned to Zambia where he befriended future musician Hamoba, and the two started making music together. He has helped bring to light many upcoming artists including Xaven The Kopala Queen Music career His musical career began in 2006 when he released "Asembe Isebenza". After a while it got identified by promoter Sync. He released a debut album “Asembe isebenza” and gained radio hype and generated a buzz in the Hip-hop underground. XYZ Entertainments, also known as XYZ Entertainment and XYZ (for short), is a Zambian record label based in Lusaka. It was founded by Mwila " Slapdee" Musonda. The entertainment group specializes in R&B and hip hop music. "XYZ" stands for ''Example yapa Zambia'', which is literally "Example of Zambia" in Bemba and Nyanja. African Hip Hop
Hip hop music has been popular in Africa since the early 1980s due to widespread African American influence. In 1985, hip hop reached Senegal, a French-speaking country in West Africa. Shadreck Mukenge (born June 14, 1986) better known by his stage name Mumba Yachi, is a Congolese musician based in Zambia. Career Mumba Yachi's love for music developed at a very young age. He grew up listening to Kalindula and Rhumba music. P. K. Chishala and Franco Luambo are said to be one of the people that inspired him to become a musician. In 2009, he began his singing career. The Ngoma Awards are an annual Zambian arts award ceremony which recognise the nation's artistic talent. The awards are organised by the National Arts Council of Zambia. Xaven The Kopala Queen
Rachel Chakwa Mwewa commonly known as Xaven The Kopala Queen is a Zambian rapper and singer. In 2022, she won the Zambian Female Artist of the Year at the Diamond TV personality award, becoming the first female artist from the Copperbelt to win the award.
