Slaný Speedway Stadium
Slaný Speedway Stadium ( cs, Stadion ploché dráhy Slaný) is a speedway track in Slaný, Czech Republic. The track is located on the Netovická road in the southeastern area of the town. The stadium hosts the speedway team AK Slaný. History The stadium was constructed throughout 1948 and 1949 and opened on 13 August 1950. Major reconstructions took place in 1958 and 1974, the latter when FIM regulations required a cinder/shale track. In-between the stadium hosted arguably what was its most significant event, the final of the 1962 Speedway World Team Cup, which attracted a crowd of 35,000. Further major events took place at the track when the final of the Speedway Under-21 World Championship was held in 1981 and 1988 respectively. In 1986, the width of the track increased allowing six riders to race and in 1988 a grandstand opened which featured VIP areas and seating for 1,000 spectators. Slaný
Slaný (; german: Schlan) is a town in Kladno District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 16,000 inhabitants. The historic town centre is well preserved and is protected by law as an urban monument zone. Motorcycle Speedway
Motorcycle speedway, usually referred to simply as speedway, is a motorcycle sport involving four and sometimes up to six riders competing over four anti-clockwise laps of an oval circuit. The motorcycles are specialist machines that use only one gear and have no brakes. Racing takes place on a flat oval track usually consisting of dirt, loosely packed shale, or crushed rock (mostly used in Australia and New Zealand). Competitors use this surface to slide their machines sideways, powersliding or broadsiding into the bends. On the straight sections of the track, the motorcycles reach speeds of up to . 1962 Speedway World Team Cup was the third edition of the FIM Speedway World Team Cup to determine the team world champions. The final took place in Slaný, Czechoslovakia. The World Champion title was won by Sweden (36 pts) who beat Great Britain (24 pts), Poland (20 pts) and Czechoslovakia (16 pts). The Speedway Under-21 World Championship is an annual speedway event held each year organized by the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) since 1977. As of 2022, the title was awarded to the winner of the SGP2 category at the FIM Speedway World Championship. History Between 1977 and 1987 the Championship was the called Individual Speedway Junior European Championship (European Speedway Under 21 Championship), open only to European riders. In 1979, the Championship allowed riders from other continents to compete, but was renamed to the Speedway World Under 21 Championship in 1988. Lukáš Dryml
Lukáš Dryml (born 16 April 1981 in Pardubice, Czechoslovakia) is an international speedway rider who represented the Czech Republic speedway team in the Speedway World Cup. He is a former World U-21 and European U-19 Champion. His father Aleš Sr. was also a Czech international rider. He has twice won the European Pairs Championship (2004 and 2007) with brother Aleš Jr. He will return to the Speedway Grand Prix series in 2008 after finishing second in the 2008 Speedway Grand Prix Qualification tournament. He was part of the Oxford Cheetahs title winning team in 2001. Dryml signed a temporary contract to ride for the Eastbourne Eagles in 2009 after the Eagles encountered difficulties obtaining a British work permit for Russian rider Denis Gizatullin. Krzysztof Kasprzak
Krzysztof Kasprzak (; born 18 July 1984 in Leszno, Poland) is an international speedway rider who became World Under-21 Champion in 2005 and won the silver medal during the 2014 Speedway Grand Prix. He also won five World team titles. He is a son of former Polish national speedway team member Zenon Kasprzak. Brother Robert is also a speedway rider. Career summary Kasprzak became the European Champion in 2003 after winning the 2003 Individual Speedway European Championship. He also made his British speedway debut after joining Poole Pirates. The following year in 2004, he broke into the Poland team, representing them in the 2004 Speedway World Cup. In 2005, he won European Pairs Championship and Under-21 World Cup for Poland. The Individual Speedway European Championship is an annual individual speedway event organized by the European Motorcycle Union (UEM) to determine the champion of Europe. The competition was founded in 2001 and was initially staged as a one-off meeting before the single event was replaced by the Speedway European Championship series in 2012. History From 1955 to 1975, the European Final was staged as the final qualifying round for the World Speedway Championship, although this did not include British riders who had a separate qualifying round. The European Championships were inaugurated in 2001, organised by European Motorcycle Union (UEM). In 2012 this was replaced by a series of four finals. Regardless of that, ISEC was struggling with prestige and promotion and the best European riders were mostly avoiding this contest. Robert Kościecha (born 22 November 1977 in Toruń, Poland) is a former motorcycle speedway rider from Poland. Career Kościecha won 2005 European Pairs Speedway Champion title. His father Roman (2 August 1949 - 6 June 2009) was also a speedway rider. He has a sister called Agnieszka. Robert was also team-captain for his Swedish team Piraterna in 2009.
