Sladenia Gardineri
''Sladenia gardineri'', the Indian round angler, is a species of marine ray-finned fish belonging to the family Lophiidae, the goose fishes, monkfishes or anglers. This species is found in the Indo-Pacific. Taxonomy ''Sladenia gardineri'' was first formally described in 1908 by the English ichthyologist Charles Tate Regan with its type locality given as Salomon Atoll in the Chagos Archipelago of the Indian Ocean. When Regan described this species he classified it in a new genus '' Sladenia'' of which it was the only species, meaning that this species is the type species of ''Sladenia'' by monotypy. The genus ''Sladenia'' is one of 4 extant genera in the family Lophiidae which the 5th edition of ''Fishes of the World'' classifies in the monotypic suborder Lophioidei within the order Lophiiformes. Charles Tate Regan
Charles Tate Regan FRS (1 February 1878 – 12 January 1943) was a British ichthyologist, working mainly around the beginning of the 20th century. He did extensive work on fish classification schemes. Born in Sherborne, Dorset, he was educated at Derby School and Queens' College, Cambridge and in 1901 joined the staff of the Natural History Museum, where he became Keeper of Zoology, and later director of the entire museum, in which role he served from 1927 to 1938. Regan was elected Fellow of the Royal Society in 1917. Regan mentored a number of scientists, among them Ethelwynn Trewavas, who continued his work at the British Natural History Museum. Goosefishes are anglerfishes in the family Lophiidae found in the Arctic, Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific Oceans, where they live on sandy and muddy bottoms of the continental shelf and continental slope, to depths of more than . John Stanley Gardiner (1872–1946) was a British zoologist. Biography Stanley, as he was known, was the younger son of John Jephson Gardiner and Sarah McTier. He was born in Jordanstown (Belfast) in 1872 – two years after his brother Arthur. Jephson was a member of the Anglican clergy and, at the time of his marriage to Sarah in 1868, was chaplain to Lord Dufferin at Carrickfergus (near Belfast). Stanley's mother died five months after he was born and in 1874, he and Arthur were taken by their father to England.
