Skycycle (rock Band)
Skycycle was a Los Angeles-based alternative rock band, led by former MTV VJ and singer-songwriter Steve Isaacs. The band is perhaps best known for their contributions to the 1998 ''Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island'' soundtrack. Band history Formation While touring as the main character in ''The Who's Tommy'' for sixteen months, Isaacs was planning to form a band after he finished touring in January 1995. He came up with the band name Skycycle while reading an article in ''Entertainment Weekly'' about the two-wheeled rocket in which Evel Knievel attempted to jump the Snake River Canyon in 1974. Isaacs initially started out playing with drummer Rob Brown, playing their first show on October 31, 1995. Two years later, he was recommended bassist Kelly Castro formerly of Caterwaul by a friend, and met guitarist Sven Shenar at work. The Panic Channel
The Panic Channel was an American alternative rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, United States, in 2004, following the third break-up of Jane's Addiction. The band consisted of vocalist Steve Isaacs formerly of Skycycle and three Jane's Addiction members: Dave Navarro (guitar), Chris Chaney (bass), and Stephen Perkins (drums, percussion). A supergroup is a musical group whose members are successful as solo artists or as members of other successful groups. The term became popular in the late 1960s when members of already successful rock groups recorded albums together, after which they normally disband. Charity supergroups, in which prominent musicians perform or record together in support of a particular cause, have been common since the 1980s. Yahoo! Groups was a free-to-use system of electronic mailing lists offered by Yahoo!. Prior to February 2020, Yahoo! Groups was one of the world's largest collections of online discussion boards. It allowed members to subscribe to various groups, read subscribed discussions online, view and share photos, files and bookmarks within a group, access a group calendar, create polls for group members, and receive email notifications of new discussion topics. Some groups were simply announcement boards, to which only the group moderators could post, while others were discussion forums. Posterous
Posterous was a simple blogging platform started in May 2008. It supported integrated and automatic posting to other social media tools such as Flickr, Twitter, and Facebook, a built-in Google Analytics package, and custom themes. It was based in San Francisco and funded by Y Combinator. Updating to Posterous was similar to other blogging platforms. Posting could be done by logging into the website's rich text editor, but it was particularly designed for mobile blogging. Mobile methods include sending an email, with attachments of photos, MP3s, documents, and video (both links and files). Many social media pundits considered Posterous to be the leading free application for lifestreaming. Napster
Napster was a peer-to-peer file sharing application. It originally launched on June 1, 1999, with an emphasis on digital audio file distribution. Audio songs shared on the service were typically encoded in the MP3 format. It was founded by Shawn Fanning, Sean Parker, and Hugo Sáez Contreras. As the software became popular, the company ran into legal difficulties over copyright infringement. It ceased operations in 2001 after losing a wave of lawsuits and filed for bankruptcy in June 2002. Later, more decentralized projects followed Napster's P2P file-sharing example, such as Gnutella, Freenet, FastTrack, and Soulseek.
