Limbaži Municipality
Limbaži Municipality ( lv, Limbažu novads) is a municipality in Vidzeme, Latvia. The municipality was formed in 2009 by merging Katvari Parish, Limbaži Parish, Pāle Parish, Skulte Parish, Umurga Parish, Vidriži Parish, Viļķene Parish and Limbaži town, the administrative centre being Limbaži. On 1 July 2021, Limbaži Municipality was enlarged when Aloja Municipality and Salacgrīva Municipality were merged into it. Since that date, Limbaži Municipality consists of the following administrative units: Ainaži Parish, Ainaži town, Aloja Parish, Aloja town, Braslava Parish, Brīvzemnieki Parish, Katvari Parish, Liepupe Parish, Limbaži Parish, Limbaži town, Pāle Parish, Salacgrīva Parish, Salacgrīva town, Skulte Parish, Staicele Parish, Staicele town, Umurga Parish, Vidriži Parish and Viļķene Parish. Skulte, Skulte Parish
Skulte (german: Adiamünde) is a village in Limbaži Municipality, Latvia, and the centre of Skulte Parish. History Skulte is an ancient settlement on the highway that led from Riga to Estonia. The ancient name of the county, Ademinde, comes from the Livonian word ''adia'' - edge and the German word ''Münde'' - mouth; "at the mouth of edge". Skulte became a larger settlement in the 1930s after the division of building plots in the territory of the former Skulte manor (''Adiamünde''). In 1933, Skultei was granted the status of a densely populated place (village). The current administrative division of Latvia came into force on 1 July 2021. On 10 June 2020, the Saeima approved a municipal reform that would reduce the 110 municipalities and nine republic cities to 43 local government units consisting of 36 municipalities (''novadi'') and seven state cities (''valstspilsētas, plural''). On 1 June 2021, the Constitutional Court of Latvia ruled that the annexation of Varakļāni Municipality to Rēzekne Municipality was unconstitutional.
