Scott Skiles
Scott Allen Skiles Sr. (born March 5, 1964) is an American former basketball coach and player. He coached the Phoenix Suns, Chicago Bulls, Milwaukee Bucks and Orlando Magic. A first-round draft pick out of Michigan State University, Skiles played ten seasons as a point guard in the NBA. He holds the NBA record for assists in one game with 30, set in his fifth season in the league and second with Orlando, in which he also earned the 1990–91 NBA Most Improved Player Award. High school and college In 1982, Skiles led Plymouth High School to the Indiana State Championship, scoring 39 points to lead the Pilgrims past the Gary Roosevelt Panthers in double overtime. During the 1982 season Skiles led the state in scoring, averaging 30.2 points per game. William Vernon Skiles
William Vernon Skiles (April 23, 1879 in Troy Grove, Illinois - September 10, 1947 in Atlanta, Georgia) was a professor of mathematics and dean at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He helped create what is now the Georgia Tech Research Institute. Education Skiles possessed a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Chicago, a Master of Arts degree from Harvard University and an honorary Doctor of Science degree from the University of Georgia. He was a member of Beta Theta Pi, Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, and the Georgia Academy of Science. Georgia Tech After Skiles' retirement in December 1945, the faculty were requested to donate to a fund to "give him a first class dinner and a gift." William West Skiles (1807–1862) was an American missionary, a Deacon in the Episcopal Church, and a teacher and community leader. He helped to found the community of Valle Crucis, North Carolina and to establish the church and missionary center there. Skiles And Henderson
Skiles and Henderson was a long-running American stand-up comedy act consisting of Bill Skiles (William Al Skiles, July 5, 1931 - May 16, 2011) and Pete Henderson (Peter Carroll Henderson, April 28, 1938 - March 1, 2018). With Henderson as the straight man (stock character), straight man and Skiles as the joker, they performed live and on many popular television shows. Their act began in 1958 at Disneyland, and they continued to perform together until 2010. Skiles died on May 16, 2011, and Henderson died on March 1, 2018. Jeffrey Bruce "Jeff" Skiles (born November 18, 1959) is an airline pilot for American Airlines. On January 15, 2009, he became globally known as first officer of US Airways Flight 1549, when he worked together with captain Chesley Sullenberger to land the aircraft on the Hudson River after the plane lost both of its engines. They were widely celebrated as heroes for landing the plane with no loss of life. Early life and career Jeff Skiles was born and raised in the greater Madison metropolitan area of Wisconsin.
