Soccer Club Gjilani ( sq, Klubi Futbollistik Gjilani), commonly known as Gjilani, is a professional football club based in Gjilan, Kosovo. The club play in the Football Superleague of Kosovo, which is the top tier of football in the country. History SC Gjilani is the club which was formed in 1995 by Afrim Kqiku, in very unfavourable times. Despite difficulties with the organization they had managed to maintain the club competing, and, after 5 years since its foundation, they won the Kosovar Cup and got promotion to the top-level Kosovar league, the Football Superleague of Kosovo, where they have been playing ever since. Kosovo Derby
The Kosovo Derby also known as Gjilan Derby or Anamorava Derby is a football rivalry between fierce rivals Drita and Gjilani. Both of the clubs are from Gjilan one of the 7 largest cities of Kosovo. The derby was started in 1995 after the split of Drita. Initially the Kosovo media did not give importance to this derby but since 2012 the media has changed opinion for the derby. The rivalry comes about as Gjilani split from Drita and thus a new club was created. History For the past 20 years the match had attracted tens of thousands of partisan fans, even as Kosovo remained in political and sporting limbo following its war of independence from what is now Serbia between 1997 and 1998. Gjilan City Stadium
The Gjilan City Stadium ( sq, Stadiumi i Qytetit të Gjilanit) is a football stadium in Gjilan, Kosovo. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of SC Gjilani and FC Drita of the Football Superleague of Kosovo. The stadium was completed in 1967 but since 2017 is in Re-Construction project. The stadium holds less than 15,000 people.
