Lake Placid Olympic Ski Jumping Complex
The Lake Placid Olympic Ski Jumping Complex comprises a HS100- and HS128-meter ski jumps towers built for the 1980 Olympic Games in Lake Placid, New York, United States, and modernized and lengthened in 2021, making them the only jumps in North America homologated for winter and summer jumping competitions. They are located two miles from Lake Placid, off the Old Military Road, in Essex County, New York. The complex is operated by the Olympic Regional Development Authority. The sky deck on the 120-meter jump offers views of nearby John Brown's Farm and the surrounding High Peaks of the Adirondacks. Training and competition for Nordic ski jumping takes place year round thanks to a plastic mat out-run on the 90m jump. The Freestyle Aerial Training Center is located to the right of the base of the jump towers. Aerialists can train in the summer months by jumping into a 750,000 gallon pool. Bronisław Czech
Bronisław "Bronek" Czech (; 25 July 1908 – 4 June 1944) was a Polish sportsman and artist. A gifted skier, he won championships of Poland 24 times in various skiing disciplines, including Alpine skiing, Nordic skiing and ski jumping. A member of the Polish national team at three consecutive Winter Olympics, he was also one of the pioneers of mountain rescue in the Tatra Mountains and a glider instructor. Harald Paumgarten
Harald Paumgarten (4 April 1904 in Graz - 6 February 1952 near Sankt Anton am Arlberg) was an Austrian cross-country skier, ski jumper, and Nordic combined skier who competed in the 1920s and in the 1930s. He competed in the 1928 Winter Olympics and in the 1932 Winter Olympics. In 1928 he finished 17th in the 18 km cross-country skiing event as well as 17th in the Nordic combined competition. Four years later he finished 29th in the shorter cross-country skiing event. In the ski jumping competition he finished 25th and in the Nordic combined event he finished 18th. He won a bronze medal in the 4 x 10 km at the 1933 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Innsbruck. František Šimůnek (2 December 1910 – 17 July 1989) was a Czechoslovakian Nordic skier who competed in the 1930s. He won a silver medal in the 4 x 10 km at the 1933 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Innsbruck. Šimůnek was born in Zlatá Olešnice in December 1910. He finished 8th in the Nordic combined and 23rd in ski jumping at the 1932 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid. Stanisław Marusarz (); 18 June 1913 – 29 October 1993) was a Polish Nordic skiing competitor in the 1930s. Life Stanisław Marusarz won a silver medal in ski jumping at the 1938 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti — the first Pole ever to earn a medal in the championships.
