Skardu–Kargil Road
The Skardu–Kargil Road ( ur, ) is a Provincial Highways of Gilgit-Baltistan, provincial highway in the Pakistani-administered Kashmir, Pakistani-administered territory of Gilgit-Baltistan, Gilgit–Baltistan, running from the city of Skardu to the Line of Control with the Indian Administered Kashmir, Indian-administered territory of Ladakh, via the Kharmang Valley. The original road continued to run until the town of Kargil, but has been Indo-Pakistani War of 1947–1948, closed since 1948. History Prior to Independence of Pakistan, Independence, the regions of Kargil district, Kargil, Leh district, Leh and Baltistan constituted the Jammu and Kashmir (princely state)#Administration, Ladakh Wazarat in the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir (princely state), Jammu and Kashmir in British Raj, British India.
