''Skambankt'' is the self-titled first album by Norwegian hard rock band Skambankt. Several of the songs from the band's 1994 demo were recorded for the album, as well as the songs they recorded while being an Urørt band. All the track names have an exclamation mark after them, complementing the band's aggressive style. All lyrics are in the Norwegian language. Skambankt
Skambankt (''Beaten to a pulp'' or ''beaten up'') is a Norwegian hard rock band from Klepp, just south of Stavanger. They play a mixture of classic rock'n'roll, punk and hardrock in the tradition of bands like Motörhead, AC/DC, Sex Pistols, Ramones and The Stooges. All the lyrics are in Norwegian. History The band was founded in 1994 when a band who was going to play at a concert couldn't make it. They took the challenge to step in for the cancelled act, and wrote nine songs the same day and performed them later that evening. The line-up was Ted Winters on guitar and vocals, Don Fist on bass, and Hanz Panzer on drums. But at that time there was not more than a few live-gigs and some demo recordings. Hard Rock
Hard rock or heavy rock is a loosely defined subgenre of rock music typified by aggressive vocals and distorted electric guitars. A demo (shortened from "demonstration") is a song or group of songs typically recorded for limited circulation or for reference use, rather than for general public release. A demo is a way for a musician to approximate their ideas in a fixed format, such as cassette tape, compact disc, or digital audio files, and to thereby pass along those ideas to record labels, producers, or other artists. Musicians often use demos as quick sketches to share with bandmates or arrangers, or simply for personal reference during the songwriting process; in other cases, a songwriter might make a demo to send to artists in hopes of having the song professionally recorded, or a publisher may need a simple recording for publishing or copyright purposes. Norwegian Language
Norwegian ( no, norsk, links=no ) is a North Germanic language spoken mainly in Norway, where it is an official language. Terje Winterstø Røthing
Terje Winterstø Røthing (born Terje Vinterstø in 1977) is a Norwegian musician, playing guitar in the rock bands Kaizers Orchestra and Skambankt. Røthing joined the band Kaizers Orchestra soon after the band started in 2000. He had participated with various bandmembers' earlier projects, and was a longtime friend of members Janove Ottesen and Geir Zahl. He had participated on every recording of the bands Blod, Snått & Juling and nom. Like Zahl, he had appeared at the Klepp Rockclub, and played funk/rock guitar in the band Zombie Porrkchop and later guitar in the bands Watershed, Ebenezer, The Goo Men, and Johnny and the Sexual Problems. As of 2011, he played the lead guitar in the Norwegian rock band Kaizers Orchestra under the name Terje "Killmaster" Kaizer. Røthing is also the frontman of the Norwegian punk band Skambankt that plays a mixture of punk, rock'n'roll and hard rock. Geir Zahl
Geir Zahl (born 19 May 1975) is a Norwegian musician. He is known for playing guitar in the Norwegian rock group Kaizers Orchestra. The band was founded by Geir Zahl and Janove Ottesen who had both played together in some other bands, namely Blod, snått & juling and gnom. Geir Zahl is the composer and main vocalist on several songs, both on the recordings and live at concerts. Geir was born in Bryne, Norway. He befriended Janove Ottesen at an early age, and together, they played in a multitude of bands such as Destruction and Blod, snått & juling. Zahl and Ottesen would write songs by themselves and record them to show to the other one, then work on those songs together. After releasing two cassettes as Blod, Snått & Juling, the two friends hit a creative wall, and their third tape was left, unfinished. Janove joined the army. Kaizers Orchestra
Kaizers Orchestra is a Norwegian alternative rock band formed on 1 January 2000. They are notable for being among the first non-black metal Norwegian artists singing in their native language to become popular beyond Scandinavia. In 2012, the group announced that following a 2013 "Farewell Tour", they would take a long break. Their final concert was held on 14 September 2013 at DNB Arena in Stavanger, and was also streamed live online. Following weeks of teasers and speculation, the band confirmed a reunion and comeback tour scheduled for 2023.
