Sjøholmen
Sjøholmen is an area between Sandvika and Høvikodden in Bærum, Norway. Originally farmland, it was used as a residential property from 1898, and then for various municipal institutions since the 1970s. History The area is located east of Sandvika, west of Høvikodden and southwest of the population centre Blommenholm. In medieval times, Sjøholmen belonged to the farm Blommenholm, which in turn was a part of the estate Nesøygodset. A cotter's farm was later established at Sjøholmen. From 1872, when the Drammen Line was opened through Bærum, the largely rural municipality went through a suburbanization process. Jurist Carl Herman Halvorsen bought Blommenholm in the same year, and from 1876 he partitioned and sold parcels, mostly to town dwellers. Halvorsen—who also served as mayor of Bærum—then sold the entire Blommenholm farm in 1898, except for Sjøholmen, where he moved into a newly erected Swiss-style villa. Clarin Mustad
Hans Clarin Hovind Mustad (22 November 1871 – 1 January 1948) was a Norwegian businessman. Personal life He was born in Vardal as the son of Hans Mustad and Clara Laurentse Marie Henriette Mustad (born Hovind). On the maternal side he was a great-grandson of Hieronymus Heyerdahl, and on the paternal side he was a grandson of Ole Hovelsen Mustad, great-grandson of Hans Schikkelstad, nephew of Kristian Mauritz Mustad and cousin of Sigbjørn Mustad. Clarin Mustad married Nathalia Fischer Schneider (1881–1936). In 1912 he bought the property Sjøholmen, between Høvikodden and Sandvika in Bærum. One of their daughters Elma Anne Lise became a horse rider, and married a man of the Kielland family. His daughter Clara married Jacob Moestue, in a wedding attended by Crown Prince Olav and Crown Princess Märtha of Norway. Carl Herman Halvorsen
Carl Herman Halvorsen (15 October 1837 – 1918) was a Norwegian jurist and politician. In 1872 Halvorsen bought the farm Blommenholm east of Sandvika. From 1876 he partitioned and sold parcels, mostly to town dwellers. He worked as a solicitor at that time, and in 1873 he was elected to serve in Bærum municipal council. He served until 1898, and was mayor from 1882 to 1886 and 1982 to 1898. From 1889 to 1891 he was a deputy representative to the Norwegian Parliament. In 1898, Halvorsen sold the entire Blommenholm farm in 1898, except for the area Sjøholmen, where he moved into a newly erected Swiss-style villa. He moved to Kristiania in 1907. Sandvika
Sandvika () is the administrative centre of the municipality of Bærum in Norway. It was declared a List of cities in Norway, city by the municipal council (Norway), municipal council in Bærum on 4 June 2003. Sandvika is situated approximately west of Oslo. It is the main transportation hub for Western Bærum, and has a combined bus and Sandvika Station, railway station. Sandvika Station
Sandvika Station ( no, Sandvika stasjon) is a railway station located at Sandvika in Bærum, Norway. Situated on the Drammen Line, from Oslo S, it also an intermediate station of the Asker Line. Vy (transport operator), Vy serves the station with local and regional, with about 7,000 passengers using the station daily. It is also served by the Flytoget, Airport Express Train and serves as the main bus terminal for the town. The station is elevated and has two island platforms and four tracks. The station opened along with the Drammen Line on 7 October 1872, until 1922 being named Sandviken. The original station building was designed by Georg Andreas Bull in Swiss chalet style. European route E18 runs from Craigavon in Northern Ireland to Saint Petersburg in Russia, passing through Scotland, England, Norway, Sweden and Finland. It is about in length. Although the designation implies the possibility of a through journey, this is no longer practical as there are no direct car ferry crossings between the United Kingdom and Norway. Arnstein Rynning Arneberg (6 July 1882 – 9 June 1961) was a Norwegian architect. He was active professionally for 50 years and is often considered the leading architect in Norway of his time. Personal life Arnstein Rynning Arneberg was born in Fredrikshald (now Halden) as a son of factory manager Mauritz Otto Edward Arneberg (1845–1913) and Hermione Nicoline Mathilde Rynning (1858–1944).
