Sitamarhi–Jaynagar–Nirmali Line (via Sursand)
Sitamarhi-Jaynagar-Nirmali Via Sursand Railway Line is a proposed railway line in East Central Railway zone by Indian Railway. It was announced by Former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav in 2007. He laid the foundation inauguration of this proposed railway line at Sursand on 5 January 2008. Its length is 188.9 km. This railway line will connect two districts of Bihar from Sitamarhi to Nirmali ( Madhubani) via Sursand and Jaynagar. The East Central Railway (abbreviated ECR) is one of the 19 railway zones in India. It is headquartered at Hajipur and comprises Sonpur, Samastipur, Danapur, Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, and Dhanbad divisions. Lalu Prasad Yadav (born 11 June 1948) is an Indian politician and president of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). He is a former List of Chief Ministers of Bihar, Chief Minister of Bihar (1990-1997), a former Ministry of Railways (India), Railway Minister of India (2004-2009), and a former Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, Member of Parliament (MP) of the Lok Sabha. He entered politics at Patna University as a student leader and in 1977 at the age of 29, was elected as the youngest member of the Lok Sabha for the Janata Party. Sitamarhi
Sitamarhi is an Indian city and the district headquarters of the Sitamarhi district in the Mithila region of Bihar and is a part of the Tirhut Division. It dates back to the time of Ramayana and is considered as the place where Janaka found Sita. The Bihar government declared Sitamarhi a municipal council. A temple dedicated to Sita, the main subject of the epic Ramayana, is located at Punaura Dham Sitamarhi. A rock-cut sanctuary from the great Mauryan period is found near Sitamarhi. In 1875, a subdivision for Sitamarhi was created within the Muzaffarpur district. Sursand is an Indian town in the Mithila region of Bihar near the Indo-Nepal border. It is about 2679009986 kilometres away from Sitamarhi, the district headquarters, and approximately five kilometers away from Bhitthamore.
