Sisters is a popular song written by Irving Berlin in 1954, best known from the 1954 film '' White Christmas''. Recordings ''White Christmas'' Trudy Stevens provided the singing voice for Vera-Ellen in "Sisters". The first edition of Vera-Ellen's biography by David Soren made the mistake of suggesting that "perhaps" Clooney sang for Vera in "Sisters". The second edition of the biography corrected that error by adding this: "Appropriately, they sing "Sisters" with Rosemary Clooney actually dueting with Trudy Stabile (wife of popular bandleader Dick Stabile), who sang under the stage name Trudy Stevens and who had been personally recommended for the dubbing part by Clooney. Irving Berlin (born Israel Beilin; yi, ישראל ביילין; May 11, 1888 – September 22, 1989) was a Russian-American composer, songwriter and lyricist. His music forms a large part of the Great American Songbook. Born in Imperial Russia, Berlin arrived in the United States at the age of five. He published his first song, "Marie from Sunny Italy", in 1907, receiving 33 cents for the publishing rights,Starr, Larry and Waterman, Christopher, American Popular Music: From Minstrelsy to MP3, Oxford University Press, 2009, pg. 64 and had his first major international hit, "Alexander's Ragtime Band", in 1911. ''Irving Berlin's White Christmas'' was an LP album of songs by Rosemary Clooney from the movie '' White Christmas,'' released by Columbia Records in 1954 (CL 6338). The album was also released as a set of four 78-rpm records at the same time. This was one of two albums of songs from the movie, neither of which qualifies as an original soundtrack recording, because Bing Crosby (who had a recording contract with Decca Records) and Rosemary Clooney (with a Columbia contract) could not record together. This album, therefore, was issued by Columbia, while Decca issued an album called ''Selections from Irving Berlin's White Christmas.'' It was produced by Barry Manilow and marked the first time that Midler had worked with Manilow in more than twenty years. It was also Midler's first album for Columbia Records after nearly 30 years recording for Warner Music Group (being signed at times to both Atlantic Records and Warner Bros. Records).
