''Sisterakas'' is a 2012 Filipino comedy parody film produced by Star Cinema and Viva Films and selected as one of the eight official entries to the 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival. The film was released nationwide in theaters on December 25, 2012. The film was directed by Wenn V. Deramas and stars an ensemble cast including Ai-Ai delas Alas, Vice Ganda and Kris Aquino, alongside with Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla, Tirso Cruz III, Epi Quizon, DJ Durano, Gloria Diaz and Xyriel Manabat in their supporting roles. This is Aquino's first collaboration with VIVA Films. The film broke box-office records in the Philippines upon its nationwide release in theaters. It now holds the title of the 3rd highest-grossing Filipino film of all time domestically. 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival
The 38th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) is a part of the annual film festival in Metro Manila, Philippines held from December 25, 2012 until January 8, 2013. During the festival, no foreign films are shown in Philippine theaters in order to showcase locally produced films (except in select 3D film, 3D cinemas and IMAX theaters). Entries In the last week of May 2012, film producers and companies already submitted their scripts in participation with the festival. However, it will still be reviewed by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority to sort out entries. Of the fifteen film entries submitted, eight were chosen as the official entries. ''Mga Kwento ni Lola Basyang'' was one of the eight entries chosen, but the producer sent a letter to MMDA to pull out of the film festival. Metro Manila Film Festival
The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) is an annual film festival held in Metro Manila, Philippines. The festival, which runs from December 25 (Christmas) through New Year's Day and into first weekend of January in the following year, focuses on Filipino films. During the course of the festival, movie theaters show only films that are approved by its jurors and exclude foreign films except in 3D theaters and IMAX theaters. Since 2010s, film entries were played in select 3D cinemas that it can show movies in 2D format. It is one of the two Filipino major film festivals to exclude movies out of the country in a week-long period, the other being the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino happening during August.
