Sirje Kingsepp (born 13 September 1969 in Kiviõli) is an Estonian politician and celebrity. Biography She is a former reality TV show '' Baar'' participant, also known as Baari-Sirje (''Sirje of "Baar"''), and a former chairperson of the Estonian Left Party ( et, Eestimaa Vasakpartei) Kingsepp has mainly caught attention with her legal action against ''Eesti Päevaleht'' concerning publication of ''Feminist and Socialist but not Communist'', a political profile story by Eesti Päevaleht while she was still an active politician. The story was written with Kingsepp's active cooperation and originally published on 23 December 2004. Estonian Left Party (, EVP) was a leftist socialist political party in Estonia. History *1990: Registration of the independent Estonian Communist Party (EKP). *1992: Congress of EKP renamed Estonian Democratic Labour Party (EDTP). *July 1995: EDLP joined New European Left Forum. *1997: Party renamed the Estonian Social Democratic Labour Party (ESDTP). *2004: ESDTP becomes founding member of European Left party. *December 2004: Estonian Social Democratic Labour Party changes name to Estonian Left Party (EVP). The Supreme Court of Estonia ( et, Riigikohus) is the court of last resort in Estonia. It is both a court of cassation and a constitutional court. The courthouse is in Tartu. History During the first independence period (1919-1940) With the First Constitution of Estonia and the Supreme Court Act, the Estonian Constituent Assembly established the Supreme Court of Estonia as a court of cassation on 21 October 1919. The first Justices of the Court were Kaarel Parts (Chief Justice), Paul Beniko, Rein Koemets, Jaan Lõo, Hugo Reiman, Martin Taevere and Peeter Puusepp. The Court first sat in Tartu Town Hall on 14 January 1920. Tiit Toomsalu
Tiit Toomsalu (born 21 November 1949) is an Estonian politician who was the leader of the Estonian Left Party from 1996 to 2004. In 1968 he graduated from Tallinn Secondary School No. 2 (now the Tallinn Secondary School of Science). In 1974, he graduated from the University of Tartu with a degree in law. From 1999 to 2003, he was a member of the Riigikogu as part of the Estonian United People's Party. From 1996 to 2004, he was chairman of the Estonian Left Party (now merged into the Estonian United Left Party). Toomsalu was considered one of the more prominent left-wing politicians in Estonia after independence while active in political office. During his time in the Riigikogu, where he was a member of the Constitutional law committee, he was infamous for his prolonged questions speeches and numerous proposed amendments to the constitution.
