Sirens (Woodlock EP)
Sirens is the third independent EP by Melbourne acoustic folk band Woodlock. The album was recorded in 2015 with producer Andy Mak, and supported by a national tour, as well as four festival appearances. The album charted on the ARIA Independent Charts, while the title track also charted on the ARIA Singles Charts. Woodlock has described the title track as a 'coming of age' song. "It’s almost a baptism from being the teenagers busking the streets, to the adults who really believe they have something to offer the world. Overall its about standing firm for what you believe, and not swaying on it." Woodlock
Woodlock are a Melbourne-based Indie pop, Alt Pop/Folk music, folk band who gained popularity by busking the streets of rural and capital cities. New Zealand-born brothers Zech Walters (guitar/vocals) and Eze Walters (guitar/vocals) struck up a friendship with Bowen Purcell (drums) after moving to Australia. In search of adventure, the three travelled around the country busking, before eventually settling in Melbourne. Indie Folk
Indie folk is a music genre that arose in the 1990s among musicians from indie rock scenes influenced by folk music. Labour of Love is the second independent EP by Melbourne acoustic folk band Woodlock. Described as their 'sophomore' album, Labour of Love was recorded in early 2014 when the band paused their busking career to head to Albert Studios in Sydney to meet with producer Wayne Connolly. The album was released by digital download through iTunes as well as in physical copies sold at performances, and later from the website. The Rudolph Wurlitzer Company, usually referred to as simply Wurlitzer, is an American company started in Cincinnati in 1853 by German immigrant (Franz) Rudolph Wurlitzer. The company initially imported stringed, woodwind and brass instruments from Germany for resale in the United States. Wurlitzer enjoyed initial success, largely due to defense contracts to provide musical instruments to the U.S. military. In 1880, the company began manufacturing pianos and eventually relocated to North Tonawanda, New York. It quickly expanded to make band organs, orchestrions, player pianos and pipe or theatre organs popular in theatres during the days of silent movies.
