Siren (DC Comics)
Siren is the name of two supervillains, both appearing in books published by DC Comics. The first character to use the name is Hila, the identical twin sister of Mera. Originating from the same underwater sub-realm as her sister, Hila was the younger twin and considered the black sheep of the family. She eventually makes herself an enemy of both Mera and Aquaman. The second Siren was a minor Lwa that resembles a mermaid. An eco-terrorist, the second Siren joined forces with known super-villain Vandal Savage and is cast as a villain enemy of the Teen Titans. Publication history Hila is the second princess of Dimension Aqua and the first Siren made her debut in ''Aquaman'' vol. 1 #22, and is the identical twin sister of Mera and a sister-in-law to Aquaman. Hackett Hackett is a former pilot of the Royal Air Force who later became a henchman of the heroin manufacturer China White (comics), China White. China conducted her business from an island volcano in Fiji, and communicated her orders to Hackett from there. Decade ago, Hackett insinuated his way into the lifestyle of millionaire playboy Oliver Queen. He convinced him to invest in several illegal offshore accounts, though Queen was unaware that the money was being used for drug trafficking. Hackett arranged to meet China White, but Oliver insisted on coming along and they both embarked upon the "Pacific Ocean" ship. Queen's presence threatened to expose China White's operations, and she ordered Hackett to kill him. As he considered himself Oliver's friend, Hackett couldn't bring himself to murder him in cold blood, so he tossed him over the side of the ship instead. The Ultraverse is a defunct comic book imprint published by the American company Malibu Comics which is currently owned by Marvel Comics. The Ultraverse is a shared universe in which a variety of characters – known within the comics as Ultras – acquired super-human abilities. Malibu Comics Entertainment, Inc. (also known as Malibu Graphics) was an American comic book publisher active in the late 1980s and early 1990s, best known for its Ultraverse line of superhero titles. Notable titles published by Malibu included '' The Men in Black'', ''Ultraforce'', and ''Night Man''. The company's headquarters was in Calabasas, California. Malibu was initially publisher of record for Image Comics from 1992 to 1993. The company's other imprints included Adventure, Aircel and Eternity. Image Comics is an American comic book publisher and is the third largest comic book and graphic novel publisher in the industry in both unit and market share. It was founded in 1992 by several high-profile illustrators as a venue for creator-owned properties, in which comics creators could publish material of their own creation without giving up the copyrights to those properties. Normally this isn't the case in the work for hire-dominated American comics industry, where the legal author is a publisher, such as Marvel Comics or DC Comics, and the creator is an employee of that publisher. Its output was originally dominated by superhero and fantasy series from the studios of the founding Image partners, but now includes comics in many genres by numerous independent creators.
