Sir William Duff-Gordon, 2nd Baronet (8 April 1772 – 8 March 1823), known as William Gordon until 1815, was a Scottish politician. Duff-Gordon was the son of the Hon. Alexander Gordon, Lord Rockville, son of William Gordon, 2nd Earl of Aberdeen. His mother was Anne, daughter of William Duff. Alexander Gordon, Lord Rockville
Alexander Gordon, Lord Rockville (1739 – 13 March 1792) was a Scottish judge. Life Rockville was the youngest son of William Gordon, 2nd Earl of Aberdeen, by his third wife Lady Anne, daughter of Alexander Gordon, 2nd Duke of Gordon. He became an advocate 7 August 1759 and served as Sheriff of Kirkcudbright from 1764 to 1784. He was appointed a Lord of Session in 1784, filling the position vacated by the death of David Dalrymple, Lord Westhall and took the judicial title of Lord Rockville after the name of his home in Haddington. He became a Senator in 1788. He died on 13 March 1792 and is buried in St Cuthbert's churchyard in Edinburgh. The eroded family stone lies in the north-west corner close to the elaborate Gothic Bailey vault. Family Rockville married Anne, daughter of William Duff and widow of William Dalrymple-Crichton, 5th Earl of Dumfries, in 1769. Sir Alexander Cornewall Duff-Gordon, 3rd Baronet (3 February 1811 – 27 October 1872) was a British civil servant and Baronet of Halkin. Duff-Gordon Baronets
The Duff, later Duff Gordon Baronetcy, of Halkin in the County of Aberdeen, is a title in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom. It was created on 12 November 1813 for James Duff, British Consul in Cádiz, with remainder to his nephew, William Gordon. Duff died unmarried in 1815 and was succeeded according to the special remainder by his nephew, the second Baronet, who assumed the additional surname of Duff on succeeding to the title. Thomas Henry Hastings Davies (27 January 1789 – 11 December 1846) was a British Member of Parliament. Davies was educated at the Royal Military College. He joined the 52nd (Oxfordshire) Regiment of Foot as an ensign, rising to become a captain before, in 1809, he moved to the Grenadier Guards. He served at the Battle of Waterloo, and was made a lieutenant-colonel the same year. He eventually became a colonel in 1939, retiring the same year. At the 1818 UK general election, Davies stood for the Whigs in Worcester, winning the seat. In Parliament, he tended to oppose government spending, and was critical of what he saw as waste in the British Army. He argued for the Army to intervene in support of Spain when French troops invaded in 1823. He supported Catholic emancipation. He supported electoral reform, and introduced a bill which limited polling to eight days, but introduced multiple polling places in larger towns and cities; this was successful. William Gordon, 2nd Earl Of Aberdeen
William Gordon, 2nd Earl of Aberdeen (1679 – 30 March 1745), known between c. 1691 and 1720 as Lord Haddo, was a Scottish landowner and Tory politician who sat in the British House of Commons briefly from 1708 to 1709 when he was declared ineligible, being the eldest son of a Scottish peer. He showed some Jacobite sympathies, but took no part in the rebellions.
