John Peter Carter (born May 1961) is a British businessman, appointed in March 2023 as CEO of Stark Building Materials UK. He was chief executive (CEO) of Travis Perkins, the FTSE 250 builders' merchant and home improvement retailer with 1,900 outlets from January 2015 until he stepped down in August 2019. Carter worked for Travis Perkins for 35 years, having joined Sandell Perkins in 1978 as a management trainee. In January 2014, he succeeded Geoff Cooper as CEO. John E. Carter (June 2, 1934 – August 21, 2009) was an American doo-wop and R&B singer. He was a founding member of The Flamingos and a member of The Dells. John Prentiss Carter (February 7, 1840 - July 24, 1925) was an American politician. He served in both houses of the Mississippi Legislature and was the Lieutenant Governor of Mississippi from 1904 to 1908. Early life John Prentiss Carter was born February 7, 1840, near Augusta, Perry County, Mississippi. He was the son of Abner Carter, who had served in the Mississippi House of Representatives, and his wife, Isabella (McLeod) Carter. His maternal grandfather, John McLeod, was a member of the first Mississippi Constitutional Convention in 1817. Abner died in 1847. Carter attended the Salem high school, which was located in Greene County, Mississippi, from 1849 to 1857. In 1857, Carter enrolled in Centenary College as a sophomore, and graduated with second honors in 1860, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree. (born John Richbourg, August 20, 1910 - February 15, 1986) was an American radio disc jockey who attained fame in the 1950s and 1960s for playing rhythm and blues music on Nashville radio station WLAC. He was also a notable record producer and artist manager. Richbourg was arguably the most popular and charismatic of the four announcers at WLAC who showcased popular African-American music in nightly programs from the late 1940s to the early 1970s. (The other three were Gene Nobles, Herman Grizzard, and Bill "Hoss" Allen.) Admiral John Carter (1785 – 2 April 1863) son of Thomas Carter and Catherine Butler of Castlemartin Co Kildare and grandson of Henry Boyle Carter, was an officer of the Royal Navy, who saw service during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars.
