Sir John Blackwood, 2nd Baronet
Sir John Blackwood, 2nd Baronet (1721 – 27 February 1799) was an Irish politician and baronet. He was the eldest son of Sir Robert Blackwood, 1st Baronet of BallyleidyDebrett, John (1820). Debrett's Peerage of England, Scotland, and Ireland'. 13th ed. pp. 1259–62. Blackwood entered the Irish House of Commons for Killyleagh in 1761 and sat for it until 1768. He was then returned for Bangor until 1776. He was member of parliament for Killyleagh again until 1790 and subsequently for Bangor until 1798. From the latter year to his death in 1799, he represented Killyleagh a third time. Sir Robert Blackwood, 1st Baronet
Baron Dufferin and Claneboye, of Ballyleidy and Killyleagh in County Down, Northern Ireland, is a title in the Peerage of Ireland. It was created 30 July 1800 for Dame Dorcas Blackwood, widow of Sir John Blackwood, 2nd Baronet, Member of the Irish Parliament for Killyleagh and Bangor, in return for support for the Union of Ireland and the United Kingdom. History The peerage had been intended for Sir John in return for his support for the Union with the Kingdom of Great Britain. The Blackwood Baronetcy, of Killyleagh in the County of Down, was created in the Baronetage of Ireland in 1763 for Robert Blackwood, the father of Sir John Blackwood. He was the son of John Blackwood and Ursula Hamilton, the daughter and co-heir of Robert Hamilton of Killyleagh, County Down. Theophilus Jones (1729–1811)
Theophilus Jones (1729? – 8 December 1811) was an Irish MP and administrator. He was born the eldest son of Walter Jones of Headfort and Olivia, the daughter and coheiress of the Hon. Chidley Coote of Coote Hall, County Roscommon. He served three periods as MP for County Leitrim in the Parliament of Ireland, sitting from 1761 to 1768, 1776 to 1783 and 1790 to 1800. He also sat for Coleraine (1769 to 1776) and Monaghan Borough (1783 to 1790). He was appointed secretary to Augustus Hervey, 3rd Earl of Bristol when the latter was Chief Secretary of Ireland in 1766, holding the post until 1799. He was appointed a Privy Counsellor in 1767 and Collector of Excise at the Port of Dublin from 1767 to 1799. Robert Ward (1754–1831)
Col. Robert Ward PC (Ire) (14 July 1754 – March 1831), styled The Honourable from 1770, was an Irish politician and colonel of the South Down militia. Background He was the fourth son of Bernard Ward, 1st Viscount Bangor and his wife Lady Ann Bligh, daughter of John Bligh, 1st Earl of Darnley and his wife Theodosia Bligh, 10th Baroness Clifton. His older brothers were Nicholas Ward, 2nd Viscount Bangor and Edward Ward. Following the latter's death in 1812, he conveyed the by-that-time-insane 2nd Viscount out of his residence Castle Ward and plundered it. Career He entered the Irish House of Commons in 1777, sitting for the borough of Wicklow until 1783. Ward was elected for Killyleagh in 1790 and represented it until 1798, when he was returned for Bangor, the family's customary constituency, until the Act of Union in 1801. Edward Ward (politician)
Edward Ward (30 April 1753 – November 1812), styled The Honourable from 1770, was an Irish politician. He was the third son of Bernard Ward, 1st Viscount Bangor and his wife Lady Ann Bligh, daughter of John Bligh, 1st Earl of Darnley and his wife Theodosia Bligh, 10th Baroness Clifton. His brothers were Nicholas Ward, 2nd Viscount Bangor and Robert Ward. In 1785, he and his uncle Sir John Parnell, 2nd Baronet petitioned the Irish House of Lords successfully to place Nicholas under disability. Ward entered the Irish House of Commons in 1776, sitting for Bangor, the same constituency his father and his older brother had also represented, until 1776. Subsequently he was returned for Down until 1790. On 15 February 1783, he married his maternal cousin Lady Arabella Crosbie, youngest daughter of William Crosbie, 1st Earl of Glandore and had by her six daughters and five sons. Nicholas Ward, 2nd Viscount Bangor
Nicholas Ward, 2nd Viscount Bangor (5 December 1750 – 11 September 1827), styled The Honourable from 1770 until 1781, was an Irish politician and peer. He was the eldest son of Bernard Ward, 1st Viscount Bangor and his wife Lady Ann Bligh, daughter of John Bligh, 1st Earl of Darnley and his wife Theodosia Bligh, 10th Baroness Clifton. His younger brothers were Edward Ward and Robert Ward. He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford, where he matriculated in 1769. Ward entered the Irish House of Commons in 1771, sitting for Bangor until 1776. He succeeded his father as viscount in 1781 and was considered a lunatic from 1785, having been placed under disability by a bill of the Irish House of Lords on petition of his brother Edward and his uncle Sir John Parnell, 2nd Baronet. Sir John Parnell, 2nd Baronet (25 December 1744 – December 1801) was an Anglo-Irish Member of Parliament. Biography A Church of Ireland landowner, his family had originally migrated to Ireland from Congleton in Cheshire. Although not from a Roman Catholic Irish background, Parnell is renowned in Irish history for his efforts to bring about a more emancipated country and was the great-grandfather of Charles Stewart Parnell, leader of the Irish Home Rule campaign. Parnell first served in the Parliament of Ireland as one of the members for Bangor, from 1767 to 1768. He later sat for Queen's County from 1783 until the Union with Great Britain created the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland in 1801.
