Charles Egerton (Indian Army Officer)
Field Marshal Sir Charles Comyn Egerton (10 November 1848 – 20 February 1921) was a senior Indian Army officer from the Egerton family. Early in his career he took part in the Second Anglo-Afghan War, the Hazara Expedition and operations in the Khyber Pass. He went on to command the Bannu column during operations in Waziristan in 1894 and to serve as senior staff officer for the Tochi Expedition in 1897. Egerton took command of the troops in British Somaliland fighting the Dervish leader Sayid Abdullah Hassan in June 1903; he had a significant success at Jidbali in January 1904 killing 1,000 of Hassan's men. His last appointment was as General Officer Commanding Secunderabad District in 1904 before retiring in 1907. Charles Egerton (MP For Brackley)
Charles Egerton (12 March 1654 – 11 December 1717), of Marchington, Staffordshire, was an English aristocrat and Whig politician who sat in the English and British Houses of Commons between 1695 and 1711. The fourth son of John Egerton, 2nd Earl of Bridgwater and his wife Lady Elizabeth Cavendish, daughter of William Cavendish, 1st Duke of Newcastle, he was admitted at the Middle Temple in 1673 and at Lincoln's Inn in 1678. Egerton married Elizabeth Murray, the daughter and heiress of Henry Murray, Groom of the Bedchamber to Charles I, and widow of Randolph Egerton, of Betley, Staffordshire on 30 April 1691. His brother, Sir William Egerton, was also a lawyer. Egerton was returned as Member of Parliament for Brackley, Northamptonshire, on the family interest at the 1695 English general election. Charles Chandler Egerton
Charles Chandler Egerton (1798–1885) was an English surgeon. Life Egerton was born at his father's vicarage of Thorncombe in Dorset in April 1798, and received his medical education at the then united hospitals of St. Thomas's and Guy's. In 1819 he became a member of the College of Surgeons. Four years later he was appointed by the East India Company assistant-surgeon on the Bengal establishment to practise as an oculist, and especially to take charge of those Indo-European lads at the lower orphan school who had contracted disease of the eyes. He dealt successfully with the epidemic there, and during his stay in India he held the first position as an oculist at the Eye Hospital, which was established under his own immediate care, and afterwards at the Medical College Hospital. Charles Egerton Osgood
Charles Egerton Osgood (20 November 1916 – 15 September 1991) was an American psychologist and professor at the University of Illinois. He was known for his research on behaviourism versus cognitivism, semantics (he introduced the term " semantic differential), cross-culturalism, psycholinguistic theory, and peace studies. He is credited with helping in the early development of psycholinguistics. Charles Osgood was recognized distinguished and highly honored psychologist throughout his career.
