Sipke Zijlstra
Sipke Zijlstra (born 13 April 1985) is a track cyclist from Netherlands. He participated in the team pursuit at the 2009 and 2010 UCI Track Cycling World Championships. In the under-23 category he won the bronze medal in the team pursuit at the 2007 UEC European Track Championships. In 2010 he won the bronze medal in the team pursuit at the 2010 UEC European Track Championships, together with Levi Heimans Levi Heimans (born 24 July 1985 in Diemen, North Holland) is a Dutch track cyclist. Burgum
Burgum is the largest and administrative town of the municipality of Tytsjerksteradiel, in the Netherlands, Dutch province of Friesland. It had a population of 10,058 inhabitants in January 2017. On 1 January 1989 the official name of the village was changed from ''Bergum'' to ''Burgum.'' This was done to match the Frisian name of the village. Bergum is the current name in Dutch. The name Burgum is suggestive of an area of higher altitude than the surrounding area. The province of Friesland is bordered in the north by the Wadden Sea. In ancient and medieval times, habitation in Friesland occurred only in those areas which were elevated above sea level (for example in Burgum) or on artificially built mounds known as terp, weird or ward. These mounds were areas of refuge in times of flooding. The artificial mounds became redundant after the building of the dykes on the border of the Wadden Sea. Tim Veldt (born 14 February 1984) is a Dutch former track cyclist, who currently works as a directeur sportif for both the road and track teams of . During his career Veldt won two world cup classics in the team sprint, two European titles (under 23 1 km time trial and omnium) as well as three Dutch national titles (1 km time trial twice and keirin). Levi Heimans
Levi Heimans (born 24 July 1985 in Diemen, North Holland) is a Dutch track cyclist. Heimans represented the Netherlands at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens where he took part in the 4 km team pursuit together with Jens Mouris, Peter Schep and Jeroen Straathof. They ended up in fifth position. He was also qualified for the individual pursuit but decided to focus totally on the team effort and did not start in that race. He competed in the same event at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics, finishing 5th again and then 7th. Track Cycling
Track cycling is a bicycle racing sport usually held on specially built banked tracks or velodromes using purpose-designed track bicycles. History Track cycling has been around since at least 1870. When track cycling was in its infancy, it was held on velodromes similar to the ones used today. These velodromes consisted of two straights and slightly banked turns, though they varied more in length and material than the modern 250m track. One appeal of indoor track racing was that spectators could be easily controlled, and hence an entrance fee could be charged, making track racing a lucrative sport.
