Sinéad Gleeson
Sinéad Gleeson is an Irish writer, editor and freelance broadcaster. She has won the Irish Book Award. Career Having edited the work of others, in 2016's ''The Long Gaze Back'' and 2017's ''The Glass Shore'', she released her first book ''Constellations'', a collection of personal essays, in 2019. Some of the essays in this work document Gleeson's struggle through illness, she is a survivor of Acute promyelocytic leukemia and has had a hip replacement. Gleeson has been a book and music reviewer for The Irish Times' ''The Ticket'' The arts, arts Supplement (publishing), supplement and presents ''RTÉ Radio 1#Sunday, The Book Show'' on RTÉ Radio 1. ''Freelance'' (sometimes spelled ''free-lance'' or ''free lance''), ''freelancer'', or ''freelance worker'', are terms commonly used for a person who is self-employed and not necessarily committed to a particular employer long-term. Irish Book Awards
The Irish Book Awards are Irish literary awards given annually to books and authors in various categories. In 2018 An Post took over sponsorship of the awards from Bord Gais Energy. It is the only literary award supported by all-Irish bookstores. First awarded in 2006, they grew out of the Hughes & Hughes bookstore's Irish Novel of the Year Prize which was inaugurated in 2003. Since 2007 the Awards have been an independent not-for-profit company funded by sponsorship. The primary sponsor is An Post, the state owned postal service in Ireland. There are currently nine categories, seven of which are judged by the Irish Literary Academy, two by a public vote. There is also a lifetime achievement award. A woman is an adult female human. Prior to adulthood, a female human is referred to as a girl (a female child or adolescent). Picador (imprint)
Picador is an imprint of Pan Macmillan in the United Kingdom and Australia and of Macmillan Publishing in the United States. Both companies are owned by Georg von Holtzbrinck Publishing Group. Kim Gordon
Kim Althea Gordon (born April 28, 1953) is an American musician, singer and songwriter, best known as the bassist, guitarist, and vocalist of alternative rock band Sonic Youth. Born in Rochester, New York, she was raised in Los Angeles, California, where her father was a professor at the University of California, Los Angeles. After graduating from Los Angeles's Otis College of Art and Design, she moved to New York City to begin an art career. There, she formed Sonic Youth with Thurston Moore in 1981. She and Moore married in 1984, and the band released a total of six albums on independent labels before the end of the 1980s. They would subsequently release nine studio albums on the major label DGC Records, beginning with '' Goo'' in 1990.
