Singapore Tonight is a long-running flagship daily national news programme on CNA which runs daily from 22:00 until 23:00 SST/ HKT (21:00 until 22:00 WIB/ BKK) on weekdays and 22:00 until 22:30 SST/ HKT (21:00 until 21:30 WIB/ BKK) on weekends/public holidays, providing a round-up of all the day's events around Singapore, as well as coverage of breaking news and occasional global stories relevant to Singaporeans. The highly rated programme is currently presented mainly by Loke Wei Sue and Dawn Tan on weekdays, and Jill Neubronner on weekends. History Up until early July 2008, the show was aired live only in Singapore with a replay available internationally at 00:00 until 00:30 SST/HKT (01:00 until 01:30 WIB/BKK). Singapore Standard Time (SST), also known as Singapore Time (SGT), is used in Singapore and is 8 hours ahead of UTC (UTC+08:00). Singapore does not observe daylight saving time. History As part of the Straits Settlements, Singapore originally adopted the Malayan time, which was GMT+07:30 in 1941. Following the Japanese occupation, Singapore (known as Syonan-to during this time) adopted the Tokyo Standard Time of GMT+09:00 on 15 February 1942.
