Singapore River Festival
The Singapore River Festival is an annual festival held in Singapore alongside the Singapore River. It started in 2015 as part of Singapore's Golden Jubilee celebrations. The festival is organised by Singapore River One. The inaugural festival in 2005 featured Spanish theatrical troupe La Fura dels Baus, a ten-day outdoor exhibition called ''Urban Artery'' and Riverside Makers Market where local craftsmen and kitchens sell their products. The festival drew an estimated 105,000 visitors. The 2016 festival's theme is "River Connections" and drew an estimated 130,000 people. Singapore River
The Singapore River is a river that flows parallel to Alexandra Road and feeds into the Marina Reservoir in the southern part of Singapore. The immediate upper watershed of the Singapore River is known as the Singapore River Planning Area, although the western part of the watershed is classified under the River Valley planning area. Singapore River planning area sits within the Central Area of the Central Region of Singapore, as defined by the Urban Redevelopment Authority. The planning area shares boundaries with the following – River Valley and Museum to the south, Tanglin and Bukit Merah to the west, Outram to the south and the Downtown Core to the east. La Fura dels Baus () is a Spanish theatrical group founded in 1979 in Moià, Barcelona (Spain), known for their urban theatre, use of unusual settings and blurring of the boundaries between audience and actor. "La Fura dels Baus" in Catalan means "The ferret from Els Baus" (Els Baus is a toponym from the birthplace of two of the founders, Moià).
