Singapore At The 2021 Southeast Asian Games
Singapore participated at the 2021 Southeast Asian Games held in Hanoi, Vietnam from 12 to 23 May 2022. The Games were postponed in 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. At the end of the Games, Singapore top the Medal Tally for Bowling, Fencing and Swimming. There were also 5 Games Records, 16 National Records and 41 Personal Best. 62 of the 164 medals were won by debutants. During the closing ceremony, swimmer Quah Jing Wen was named as one of the MVP of the Games with 6 Gold and 1 Bronze medals. Competitors Singapore sent a total of 424 athletes competing in 33 of 40 sports with 243 of them making their Games debut. No athletes were fielded in Bodybuilding, Futsal, Kurash, Petanque, Sepak Takraw, Vovinam and Weightlifting. Singapore National Olympic Council
The Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC) is the National Olympic Committee and National Paralympic Committee for the Republic of Singapore. It was founded in 1947 as the Singapore Olympic and Sports Council (SOSC) before renaming to its current iteration in 1970. The SNOC is responsible for supporting, entering and overseeing Team Singapore for the Olympic Games, Youth Olympic Games, Winter Olympic Games, Winter Youth Olympic Games, SEA Games, Asian Games, Asian Youth Games and the Commonwealth Games. Singapore At The 2005 Southeast Asian Games
Singapore participated at the 2005 Southeast Asian Games in the Philippines under the IOC country code SIN. Sending a delegation of 658 athletes and 291 officials, the third largest it had ever sent to the games, the Singapore team set its target at 35 gold medals, five more than the haul won at the 2003 Southeast Asian Games held in Vietnam. The selection criteria for participating in the games was set strictly based on their ability to win at least a bronze medal for the country. Hence, the Singapore National Olympic Council asked the various sporting federation bodies to nominate their candidates based on their performance between 1 March 2005 to 24 June 2005, with achievements above the bronze medal scores in previous games. Quah Jing Wen
Quah Jing Wen ( zh, c=柯敬文, p=Kē Jìngwén; born 20 December 2000) is a Singaporean professional swimmer who specialises in individual medley, butterfly and freestyle events. Education Quah was educated at Methodist Girls' School and Anglo-Chinese School (Independent), before graduating from Texas A&M University in 2021 with a bachelor's degree in biomedical science. Swimming career Quah Jing Wen clocked 2min 12.95sec and set an Under-17 200m butterfly Singaporean national record at the Neo Garden 13th Singapore National Swimming Championships, breaking Tao Li's record set in 2005. Swimming At The 2021 Southeast Asian Games
The swimming competitions at the 2021 Southeast Asian Games took place at Mỹ Đình Aquatics Center in Hanoi, Vietnam from 14 to 19 May 2022. It is one of four aquatic sports at the Games, along with diving, finswimming and canoeing. Summary Singapore dominated the swimming events again, winning just over half of the gold medals at 21 out of 40, in addition to 11 and 12 silver and bronze medals respectively. In total, Singapore won 44 medals. Host Vietnam came in second with a total of 25 medals at 11 gold medals, 11 silver medals and three bronze medals. During the 4×100 m men freestyle relay event, both Singapore and Malaysia teams were disqualified by officials on technicalities shortly after winning gold and silver respectively. The 2021 Southeast Asian Games ( vi, Đại hội Thể thao Đông Nam Á 2021, lit=2021 Southeast Asian Sport Festival), officially known as the 31st Southeast Asian Games, or the 31st SEA Games and also known as Vietnam 2021, was the 31st edition of the Southeast Asian Games, the biennial regional multi-sport event which was held in Hanoi, Vietnam and its surrounding cities from 12 to 23 May 2022. Originally planned to take place from 21 November to 2 December 2021, it was eventually rescheduled as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic in Vietnam. Singapore participated at the 2013 Southeast Asian Games from 11 to 22 December 2013. The 27th Southeast Asian Games took place in Naypyidaw, the capital of Myanmar, as well as in two other main cities, Yangon and Mandalay. Singapore itself became the host for the next 2015 event from 5–16 June 2015. Preparation The sports committees of Singapore has chosen athletes who will represent the nation for the games. The Singapore SEA Games football squad has been assembled and played two friendly matches in which they drew the Indonesia national under-23 football team 1-1 and beaten the Philippines national under-23 football team with a scoreline of 1-0.
