Sinas (crater)
Sinas is a small lunar impact crater that lies in the eastern part of the Moon on the Mare Tranquillitatis. Its diameter is 12 km. It was named after the Greek magnate Simon Sinas. This is an isolated formation that is located very near the midpoint of the lunar mare. Sinas is circular and bowl-shaped, with a small floor at the midpoint. A wrinkle ridge intersects the east edge of the crater, and several lunar domes lie to the north. Nearby craters include Jansen and Carrel to the northwest, Aryabhata to the southeast, and Maskelyne to the south. Debold Sinas
Debold Menorias Sinas (born May 8, 1965) is a Filipino retired police general who served as Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) from November 2020 to May 2021. During his tenure, he oversaw the COVID-19 community quarantines in the Philippines. However, he was also accused of violating the COVID-19 lockdown rules himself. Sinas graduated from the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) in 1987. He served as the police chief of Central Visayas and Metro Manila before becoming chief of the PNP. After his retirement, he was appointed as an undersecretary to President Rodrigo Duterte. Since July 2022, he is serving as Cebu City's peace and order adviser. Early life and education Sinas was born on May 8, 1965, in Barangay Datu Silongan, in the city of Butuan, Agusan province, Philippines. Georgios Sinas ( el, Γεώργιος Σίνας, german: Georg Sina; 20 November 1783 – 18 May 1856) was a Greek-Austrian entrepreneur and banker. He became a national benefactor of Greece and was the father of another Greek national benefactor, Simon Sinas. He was also the founder of the National Observatory of Athens. Biography Georgios Sinas was born in Niš. The Sinas family came from Moscopole, Ottoman Empire (now southern Albania). The ethnic origin of the family has been described as Aromanian, Hellenized Aromanian, or Greek. He was one of the most important benefactors of the Greek nation together with Georgios Sinas. Biography Simon Sinas was born on August 15, 1810 in Vienna. The Sinas family came from the Aromanians, Aromanian settlement of Moscopole in southern Albania. The son of Georgios Sinas, also a benefactor and diplomat, Sinas expanded his father's business.
