Sinan Abdullah
Sinan Abdul Jabbar Abdullah (born 1947; ar, سنان عبد الله) is a Mandaean-American dentist and community leader. He and his twin brother Haithem are known as the first Mandaean Americans, American-born Mandaeans. Biography Sinan Abdullah (full name: Sinan Abdul Jabbar Abdullah, ar, سنان عبد الجبار عبد الله) was born in 1947. His father Abdul Jabbar Abdullah was a physicist and university administrator who immigrated to the United States from Iraq, while his paternal grandfather was the Mandaean priest Ganzibra Abdullah bar Sam. He and his twin brother Haithem were the first Mandaeans born in the United States. In 1979, Sinan married his wife Rand in Iraq. Abdul Jabbar Abdullah
Abdul Jabbar Abdullah ( ar, عبد الجبار عبد الله) (1911 – July 9, 1969) was an Iraqi wave theory physicist, dynamical meteorologist, and President Emeritus of Baghdad University. Abdullah earned his Sc.D. degree in meteorology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1946, before being appointed head of the Iraqi Teacher Association, and then chairman of the Department of Physics, College of Education, Baghdad. In 1952, he became a visiting research professor in meteorology at New York University, and in 1965 he joined the National Center for Atmospheric Research as a scientific visitor. In his memoir, nuclear physicist Khidir Hamza claims Abdullah not only taught him, but was also instrumental in getting the former into MIT to pursue a master's degree in nuclear engineering after Hamza's initial rejection by the institute. Nasser Sobbi ( fa, ناصر صبي; born March 13, 1924, Khorramshahr; died December 22, 2018, Flushing, Queens) was an Iranian-American Mandaeans, Mandaean scribe, manuscript collector, and goldsmith who was known as one of the last remaining fully fluent native speakers of Neo-Mandaic. He was a ''yalufa'' (learned Mandaean layman), though not a formally ordained Mandaean priest. Biography Early life Nasser Sobbi was born in Muḥammara (now known as Khorramshahr), Iran on March 13, 1924.
