Sinama Language
The Sama language, ''Sinama'' (''Sama'' + the infix ''-in-''; also known as Bahasa Bajau), is the language of Sama-Bajau people of the Sulu Archipelago, Philippines; Sabah, Malaysia and parts of Indonesia. The Sama are one of the most widely dispersed peoples in Southeast Asia. Classification The ''Ethnologue'' divides Sinama into seven languages based on mutual intelligibility. The seven Sinama languages are Northern Sinama, Central Sinama, Southern Sinama, Sinama Pangutaran from the island of Pangutaran off of Jolo island, Mapun, Bajau West Coast of Sabah and Bajau Indonesia. Jama Mapun, a language from the island of Mapun, formerly known as Cagayan de Sulu, is a related language and sometimes also referred to as Sinama. Banguingui, officially the Municipality of Banguingui ( Tausūg: ''Kawman sin Banguingui''; tl, Bayan ng Banguingui), is a 4th class municipality in the province of Sulu, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 35,616 people. From its original name Tongkil, it was renamed ''Banguingui'' on January 29, 1999, by virtue of ''Muslim Mindanao Autonomy Act No. 71'' of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao in honor of the dominant Banguingui tribe of the municipality. Sibuguey Bay
Sibuguey Bay is a large bay of the Moro Gulf, situated off the southwestern coast of Mindanao Island in the Philippines. The bay bounds the southern coast of the Zamboanga Peninsula. Along with the Moro Gulf, the bay forms part of the Celebes Sea. Fishing The bay supports one of Philippines' richest fish population. It is estimated to supply fish for the 330,000 Sibugaynons inhabiting the area. However, the introduction of new fishing gears, the use of dynamite and the rapid destruction of mangroves have all contributed to a drastic decline in the bay's fish population. The quantity of fish caught by an individual fisherman had dropped ten times below the former quantity. Jolo
Jolo ( tsg, Sūg) is a volcanic island in the southwest Philippines and the primary island of the province of Sulu, on which the capital of the same name is situated. Basilan
Basilan, officially the Province of Basilan ( cbk, Provincia de Basilan; yka, Wilayah Basilanin; tsg, Wilaya' sin Basilan; fil, Lalawigan ng Basilan), is an island province of the Philippines located primarily in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region.
