Sinagra is an outer northern suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Wanneroo. This suburb, formerly part of the suburb of Wanneroo, is named after the Sinagra family, migrants from Italy who arrived in the Wanneroo area in the 1920s. The City of Wanneroo established a sister city relationship with Sinagra, Sicily as a large number of families migrated from there to make a new home in Wanneroo. Sam Sinagra owned a shop in Wanneroo, and the family were prominent citizens. The suburb name was approved on 3 April 1995. There are no bus routes directly serving the centre of the suburb. Wanneroo is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Western Australia. The district is located in the northern suburbs of Perth. Wanneroo is a marginal seat; it has been held by the government of the day on every occasion since its creation in 1989. Geography Wanneroo is based in the outer northern suburbs of Perth. It was created at the 1989 redistribution and named after George Pearce, the longest serving member of the Australian Senate, serving from 1901 to 1938. Wanneroo Road is a arterial highway in the northern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia linking Joondanna and Yokine in the south with Wanneroo and Yanchep in the north. As part of State Route 60, it begins from Charles Street in the inner city and becomes Indian Ocean Drive up to Dongara. Originally a narrow and often country road with a single lane in each direction it has been periodically widened and (particularly north of Wanneroo) straightened. Around the Carabooda area the road has been realigned. Short sections of the original, narrow road remain providing access to properties and businesses along the road.
