Sims Hotel
The Sims Hotel was a historic hotel in Plumerville, Arkansas. Located in the town center, it was the last surviving remnant of the town's early heyday as a railroad community. Built in 1860s as a private residence, it was converted to a hotel when the railroad arrived in the 1870s, and was decorated with then-fashionable Gothic gingerbread trim on its two-story porch. It was the only railroad-oriented hotel to survive fires that swept the city's downtown in the early 20th century. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. It has apparently been demolished, and was delisted in 2000. Plumerville is a city in Conway County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 826 at the 2010 census. Geography Plumerville is located in southern Conway County at (35.160896, -92.642794), along U.S. Route 64, which leads east to Menifee and west to Morrilton, the county seat. Interstate 40 passes through the northern edge of the city with access from one exit and leads southeast to Little Rock and west to Fort Smith. Gingerbread is an architectural style that consists of elaborately detailed embellishment known as gingerbread trim. It is more specifically used to describe the detailed decorative work of American designers in the late 1860s and 1870s, which was associated mostly to the Carpenter Gothic style. It was loosely based on the Picturesque period of English architecture in the 1830s.
