Lucifer's Friend
Lucifer's Friend was a German rock band, formed in Hamburg in 1970 by guitarist Peter Hesslein, singer John Lawton, bassist Dieter Horns, keyboardist Peter Hecht, and drummer Joachim Reitenbach. The group was an early practitioner of heavy metal and progressive rock; they also incorporated elements of jazz and fusion into their music, especially in their fourth album ''Banquet'' of 1974. Beyond heavy metal, the band has been cited, too, as one of the pioneers of doom metal, helping to define both genres due to their heavy sound and dark oriented lyrics of their debut '' Lucifer's Friend'' of 1970, and returning to their roots in 1981 with '' Mean Machine'', although more influenced by speed metal. History Vocalist John Lawton's band Stonewall broke up while on tour in West Germany in 1969. While the band returned home to Britain, Lawton elected to stay in Germany for the time being, and there he met Peter Hesslein, Dieter Horns, Peter Hecht and Joachim Reitenbach, all ... Psalm 9
Psalm 9 is the ninth psalm of the Book of Psalms, beginning in English in the King James Version: "I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works." In Latin, it is known as "Confitebor tibi, Domine". The topic of the psalm is that the success of evil is only temporary, and in the end, the righteous will endure. Psalm 10 is considered part of Psalm 9 in the Greek Septuagint and in most pre-Reformation Christian Bibles. These two consecutive psalms have the form of a single acrostic Hebrew poem. The psalm is a regular part of Jewish, Catholic, Lutheran, Anglican and other Protestant liturgies. Text King James Version # I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works. # I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High. # When mine enemies are turned back, they shall fall and perish at thy presence. # For thou hast maintained my right and my cause; thou sate ... The Skull (album)
''The Skull'' is the second studio album by American doom metal band Trouble, released by Metal Blade Records in March 1985. Trouble gained critical recognition for ''The Skull'' and it was followed by a successful tour. The album reflected singer Eric Wagner's struggles with substance abuse, however, as well as growing turmoil within the group. This led to the departure of bassist Sean McAllister in 1986; he was replaced by Ron Holzner during that year, who would remain with the band until their 2002 reunion. In early 1986, shortly after ''The Skull'' tour began, drummer Jeff Olson would also leave to pursue higher education and the band regrouped with a new lineup later that year. Olson would play the Hammond organ on Trouble's third studio album, ''Run to the Light'', in 1987 and keyboards on their 1990 self-titled album, eventually fully reuniting with the band in 1993. Olson played on Trouble's sixth and seventh studio albums, ''Plastic Green Head'' and ''Simple Mind Cond ...
