Simone Segouin
Simone Segouin (; 3 October 1925 – 21 February 2023), also known by her ''nom de guerre'' Nicole Minet (), was a French Resistance fighter who served in the ''Francs-tireurs et partisans'' group during World War II. Among her first acts of resistance was stealing a bicycle from a German patrol, which she then used to help carry messages. She went on to take part in large-scale or otherwise dangerous missions, such as capturing German troops, derailing trains, and acts of sabotage. Early life Segouin was born on 3 October 1925 in Thivars, a French village near Chartres. She grew up alongside three brothers. Her father had been a decorated soldier during World War I. She attended school until the age of 14, at which point she began to work on the family farm. Kodachrome is the brand name for a color reversal film introduced by Eastman Kodak in 1935. It was one of the first successful color materials and was used for both cinematography and still photography. For many years Kodachrome was widely used for professional color photography, especially for images intended for publication in print media. Because of its complex processing requirements, the film was initially exclusively sold process-paid in the United States: customers had to pay Kodak for the cost of development when they bought the film, and independent photography stores were prohibited from developing Kodachrome photos. To develop the film, customers had to mail film to Kodak, who mailed the developed photos back for no additional charge. Jeannette Guyot
Jeannette Guyot (26 February 1919 – 10 April 2016) was a French Resistance operative who went on to become one of the Second World War's most decorated women. Guyot undertook numerous dangerous missions in Occupied France moving fugitives, collecting military intelligence, and assisting Allied agents. The recipient of honors from France and the United Kingdom, Guyot is one of only two women to hold the American Distinguished Service Cross obtained during the war. Lise Marie Jeanette de Baissac MBE CdeG (11 May 1905 – 29 March 2004), code names ''Odile'' and ''Marguerite,'' was a Mauritian agent in the United Kingdom's clandestine Special Operations Executive (SOE) organization in France during World War II. The purpose of SOE was to conduct espionage, sabotage, and reconnaissance in countries occupied by the Axis powers, especially Nazi Germany. SOE agents allied themselves with resistance groups and supplied them with weapons and equipment parachuted in from England. De Baissac was one of the first SOE female agents to be parachuted into occupied France in 1942. During her two missions to France she often worked with her brother Claude who headed the Scientist network of SOE. The couple was most useful shortly before and after the D-Day invasion of France by the allies.
