Simone Lovell
Simone Lovell (born 19 February 1934) is a British actress known for her television appearances of the 1950s and 60s. She is the daughter of the Canadian-born actor Raymond Lovell and Margot Ruddock, whose relationship broke down when Ruddock began an affair with W. B. Yeats in 1934, the year Simone Lovell was born. She was the stepdaughter of Tamara Desni during her father's short marriage (1947–51) to that actress. In 1956 Lovell married the actor Peter Halliday, with whom she had three sons, Simon, Patrick and Ben Halliday. They divorced in the early 1970s. Her two youngest sons attended Oswestry School, as did their father before them. The Four Just Men (TV Series)
''The Four Just Men'' is a 1959 television series produced by Sapphire Films for ITC Entertainment. It was broadcast for one season of 39 half-hour monochrome episodes. Plot The series, based on a sequence of novels by Edgar Wallace including a 1905 novel titled '' The Four Just Men'', presents the adventures of four men who first meet while Allied soldiers in Italy during the Second World War, tasked with the dangerous job to blow up a bridge behind enemy lines. In England in 1959 the men are contacted by telegram by their commanding officer, Colonel Cyril Bacon. to meet again. Col. Bacon died a week before, but has left a recorded message for the men. ''The Harassed Hero'' is a 1954 British comedy film directed by Maurice Elvey and starring Guy Middleton, Joan Winmill Brown and Elwyn Brook-Jones. It was based on a novel of the same name by Ernest Dudley. The film was produced as a second feature and shot at Walton Studios and on location in London. ''Public Eye'' is a British television drama series that ran from 1965 to 1975, for a total of seven series. It was produced by ABC Weekend TV for three series, and Thames Television for a further four. The series depicted the cases and investigations handled by the enquiry agent Frank Marker (Alfred Burke), an unmarried loner who is in his early forties when the series begins. The title is a twist on the more usual "private eye". Background The series was created by writers Roger Marshall and Anthony Marriott with the aim of getting away from "square-jawed" heroes of the type featured in Hollywood movies—a wish shared by Alfred Burke, the actor chosen to play Marker. ''Z-Cars'' or ''Z Cars'' (pronounced "zed cars") is a British television police procedural series centred on the work of mobile uniformed police in the fictional town of Newtown, based on Kirkby, near Liverpool. Produced by the BBC, it debuted in January 1962 and ran until September 1978. The series differed sharply from earlier police procedurals. ''The Adventures of Robin Hood'' is a British television series comprising 143 half-hour, black and white episodes broadcast weekly between 1955 and 1959 on ITV. It starred Richard Greene as the outlaw Robin Hood, and Alan Wheatley as his nemesis, the Sheriff of Nottingham. The show followed the legendary character Robin Hood and his band of merry men in Sherwood Forest and the surrounding vicinity. While some episodes dramatised the traditional Robin Hood tales, most were original dramas created by the show's writers and producers. Peter Halliday
Peter Halliday (2 June 1924 – 18 February 2012) was a Welsh actor. Early life The son of an auctioneer and estate agent, Halliday was brought up in Welshpool in Montgomeryshire, and attended Oswestry School in Shropshire. On leaving school he became an apprentice auctioneer with his father, but he had no desire to make it his career. He worked briefly for Rolls-Royce in Hucknall, Nottinghamshire before being called up by the Army during the Second World War, serving in Iraq, Palestine and Egypt. While still in the Army, he auditioned successfully for the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art during time on leave. Career Halliday joined the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre Company alongside Richard Burton, Michael Redgrave and Ralph Richardson. He played regularly at Theatr Clwyd for six years, and spent two years at the National Theatre.
