Simon Lambert (hurler)
Simon Lambert (born 17 April 1988) is a hurler for Dublin and Ballyboden St Enda's. He won a Dublin Senior Hurling Championship medal with Ballyboden in 2007. Lambert was dropped from the Dublin hurling panel in December 2015. Ballyboden St Enda's (''CLG Baile Buadáin Naomh Éanna'' in Irish) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Knocklyon, South Dublin, Ireland. The Club serves the Rathfarnham, Knocklyon, Ballycullen, Ballyboden, Ballyroan, Firhouse areas. They offer hurling, camogie, Gaelic football, handball, and rounders. Hurling ( ga, iománaíocht, ') is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic Irish origin, played by men. One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, the number of players and much terminology. The same game played by women is called camogie ('), which shares a common Gaelic root. Dublin Senior Hurling Championship
The Dublin Senior Hurling Championship ( ga, Craobh Sinsear Iomána Átha Cliath) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Dublin GAA, Dublin County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (Gaelic Athletic Association, GAA) since 1887 for the top hurling clubs in County Dublin, Ireland. Sixteen clubs compete. Initially the teams are divided into four groups of four with the group matches being played from April to May with a break to accommodate the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, All-Ireland Championship and resume during August or September. The group stage is followed by a Tournament#Knock-out tournaments, knock-out phase which takes place during the months of October and November. The 2015–16 All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship was the 46th annual gaelic football club championship since its establishment in the 1970-71 season. The winners receive The Andy Merrigan Cup. The defending champions were Corofin from Galway who defeated Slaughtneil Robert Emmets from Derry on 17 March 2015 to win their 2nd title. They were knocked out by Castlebar Mitchels of Mayo in the Connacht final in 2015-16. Ballyboden St. Endas from Dublin won the title for the first time by defeating Castlebar Mitchels of Mayo 2-14 to 0-7 in the final at Croke Park on 17 March 2016. Dual player or dual star is a term used in Hiberno-English to describe someone who competes in multiple sports — for example, in Victorian Ireland, cricket and hurling. The term today in Gaelic games typically describes a male player who plays both Gaelic football and hurling or, if a female player, a player of ladies' Gaelic football and camogie. The player does not necessarily have to play at the same standard in both sports.
