Simon Timothy Cook MBE is a British television actor, best known for his role as Andrew Warrington in the Five soap opera ''Family Affairs'' between 2000 and 2001. Biography He attended Norwich School before studying English at the University of Sussex. He spent six years in business management before taking an acting course at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Cook has had roles in ''EastEnders'', ''Doctors'', ''Casualty'', and ''Cal''. He has also performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company. Politics He is also a Liberal Democrat politician, being a member of Bristol City Council since 1999, representing the Clifton East ward. He has served as Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure (2003–2004, 2005–2007 and 2009–present), as Lord Mayor of Bristol (2004–2005) and as Deputy Leader of Council (2005–2006 and 2009–2012). Order Of The British Empire (MBE)
The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organisations, and public service outside the civil service. It was established on 4 June 1917 by King George V and comprises five classes across both civil and military divisions, the most senior two of which make the recipient either a knight if male or dame if female. There is also the related British Empire Medal, whose recipients are affiliated with, but not members of, the order. Royal Shakespeare Company
The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) is a major British theatre company, based in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, England. The company employs over 1,000 staff and produces around 20 productions a year. The RSC plays regularly in London, Stratford-upon-Avon, and on tour across the UK and internationally. The company's home is in Stratford-upon-Avon, where it has redeveloped its Royal Shakespeare and Swan theatres as part of a £112.8-million "Transformation" project. ''The Chief'' is a British television crime drama series that aired on ITV from 20 April 1990 until 16 June 1995. A total of five series and thirty-five episodes were produced. The Mayor of Bristol is the head of government of Bristol and the chief executive of the Bristol City Council. Clifton East (ward)
Clifton East was one of the thirty-five council wards in Bristol, England. As the name suggests, the ward covered the eastern part of the Clifton area of Bristol. The ward ceased to exist in May 2016 following a boundary review. It was mostly replaced by a new ward called Clifton Down, with the south-west corner of Clifton East being moved into the neighbouring ward of Clifton.” Many students lived in Clifton East. 30% of the population is aged 20–24, compared with a national average of 9%.
