Simon Bailey (16 June 1955 – 27 November 1995) was a British Anglican priest and writer. He came to national attention when a television documentary was made of how he continued his work in the parish after telling his Bishop and parishioners he had AIDS - the first British priest to do so. Childhood Simon Bailey was born in Halifax, West Yorkshire, one of five children - Rosemary, Simon, Martin, Jacqueline, and Caroline. His father, the Reverend Walter Bailey, was a Baptist minister who combined conservative evangelical theological convictions with social radicalism. He bought his first television in order to be able to watch the funeral of Sir Winston Churchill in 1965. Walter Bailey supported the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament and actually died while distributing leaflets for the Labour Party. The socialist historians E. P. Simon Bailey (archivist)
Simon Bailey was the Keeper of the Archives at the University of Oxford in England until March 2020. Bailey received his degree from the University of Warwick. He was the first full-time Keeper of the Archives, having previously worked as the university's Archivist when David Vaisey (Bodley's Librarian) was the part-time Keeper. Simon Bailey became the 21st Keeper of the Archives, following a decision by Oxford University to combine the Keeper and Archivist posts in 2000. The archives became part of the Bodleian Library, the main Oxford University library, in August 2010. Bailey is a Fellow of Linacre College, Oxford. Simon Robert Bailey is a senior British police officer. Since 2013, he has been the Chief Constable of the Norfolk Constabulary. Bailey is also the National Police Chiefs' Council lead on child protection. Simon Roger Arthur Bailey (born 23 January 1980) is an English runner who has been a national fell running champion several times and who has represented his country at the World Mountain Running Trophy. He is the son of Roger and Vanessa Bailey of Rushton Spencer near the border between Staffordshire and Cheshire. Bailey’s potential was noticed when he finished second in the Shutlingsloe Fell Race at the age of fourteen and he was encouraged to focus on fell running by the race winner Dave Neill. As young athletes, Simon and his sister Kate both became national champions in their age groups and represented England in the junior races at the World Mountain Running Trophy in 1999, when Simon finished in fifth place and Kate was the bronze medallist.
