Simeon "Blind Simmie" Dooley (July 3, 1881 or June 1887 – January 17, 1961) was an American country blues singer and guitarist. Biography Dooley was born in Hartwell, Georgia, United States. Simmie Hill, Jr. (November 14, 1946 – July 14, 2013) was an American professional basketball player. At 6'7", he played the forward position. Born in Midland, Pennsylvania, Hill attended Midland High School, where he starred on the school's basketball team alongside Norm Van Lier. During his senior year, Hill scored 652 points and led the Midland Leopards to the Pennsylvania State Championship. Simmie Lee Knox (born August 18, 1935) is an American painter who painted the official White House portrait of former United States President Bill Clinton and First Lady Hillary Clinton. He was the first black American artist to receive a presidential portrait commission. Early life Simmie Knox was born on August 18, 1935 in Aliceville, Alabama to Simmie Knox Sr., a carpenter and mechanic, and Amelia Knox. At a young age Simmie's parents divorced and he was sent to live on his aunt and uncle's sharecropper farm with his eight cousins in Leroy, Alabama.
