''Similarities'' is a compilation album by Scottish band Biffy Clyro, released in Germany on 18 July 2014, in the UK and Europe on 21 July, and in the US and Australia on 5 August. Available on 12" double vinyl, CD (Limited to 3,000 copies and exclusive to the Biffy Clyro webstore) and as a digital download. Biffy Clyro are a Scottish rock band that formed in Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire, composed of Simon Neil (guitar, lead vocals), James Johnston (bass, vocals), and Ben Johnston (drums, vocals). Currently signed to 14th Floor Records, they have released nine studio albums, six of which (''Puzzle'', '' Only Revolutions'', ''Opposites'', ''Ellipsis'', ''A Celebration of Endings'' and ''The Myth of the Happily Ever After'') reached the top five in the UK Albums Chart, with their sixth studio album, ''Opposites'' claiming their first UK No. 1 album. Storm Elvin Thorgerson (28 February 1944 – 18 April 2013) was an English graphic designer and music video director. He is best known for closely working with the group Pink Floyd through most of their career, and also created album or other art for Led Zeppelin, Phish, Black Sabbath, UFO, Peter Gabriel, the Alan Parsons Project, Genesis, Yes, Kansas, Dream Theater, Muse, Audioslave, the Mars Volta, The Cranberries, Helloween, Ween and Catherine Wheel. Early life Thogerson, who was of Norwegian descent, was born in Potters Bar, Middlesex (now part of Hertfordshire). Abbey Road Studios (formerly EMI Recording Studios) is a recording studio at 3 Abbey Road, St John's Wood, City of Westminster, London, England. It was established in November 1931 by the Gramophone Company, a predecessor of British music company EMI, which owned it until Universal Music Group (UMG) took control of part of it in 2013. It is ultimately owned by UMG subsidiary Virgin Records Limited (until 2013 by EMI Records Limited, nowadays known as Parlophone Records and owned by UMG's competitor Warner Music Group). Simon Alexander Neil (born 31 August 1979) is a Scottish vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter. He is known for his work in the bands Biffy Clyro and Marmaduke Dukeand also new band with Mike Vennart, Empire state bastard. ''Opposites'' is the sixth studio album by Scottish alternative rock band Biffy Clyro, which was released on 28 January 2013. A double album, ''Opposites'' was originally announced as a pair of albums, ''The Land at the End of Our Toes'' and ''The Sand at the Core of Our Bones'', which later became the names of the individual discs of the album. The album features 20 songs across two discs. There is also a single disc version with 14 selected tracks. As of July 2016, the album has sold 260,720 copies in the UK. Overview "Stingin' Belle" was the first recorded song to be publicly played, debuting on BBC Radio 1 on 31 July 2012. The song was released online along with a video consisting of material made of the album's recording in Los Angeles and the band's live shows. ''Ellipsis'' is the seventh studio album by Scottish alternative rock band Biffy Clyro. It was produced by Rich Costey and released on 8 July 2016. Ellipsis entered the UK charts at number one, making it Biffy Clyro's second number one album (after 2013's ''Opposites''). Background Confirmation that the band was working on a new record came in early 2014, with frontman Simon Neil telling Radio X in an interview that they had written "about 14 songs so far", stating that the album was projected for possible release by the end of 2015. He also commented saying that the band was due to take a break from public involvement to bring themselves away from the spotlight following touring in support of their 2013 album, ''Opposites''.
