Simeon () is a given name, from the Hebrew (Biblical ''Šimʿon'', Tiberian ''Šimʿôn''), usually transliterated as Shimon. In Greek it is written Συμεών, hence the Latinized spelling Symeon. Meaning The name is derived from Simeon, son of Jacob and Leah, patriarch of the Tribe of Simeon. San Simeon is a Standardbred pacer from Western Australia best known for his Australasian record winning sequence of 29 races from his first start as a two-year-old until his defeat by Michael Frost during the 1981 Interdominion series in Hobart, Tasmania. He also won three consecutive Australian Harness Horse of the Year awards. Racing career San Simeon began his racing career on 11 November 1978 at Bunbury, 175 kilometres south of Perth. He immediately began his 29 race winning sequence by winning all 10 starts as a two-year-old including the WA Golden Slipper and WA Champagne Stakes. He was voted Australian two-year-old (2yo) of the year for 1978/9, and the $50,162 he earned that season was a new Australian record for a horse of his age. Xavier Siméon (born 31 August 1989) is a Grand Prix motorcycle racer from Belgium, competing in the MotoE World Cup. He is the winner of the 2009 FIM Superstock 1000 Championship and the 2006 European Superstock 600 Championship and the winner of the 2021 24 Hours Moto of Le Mans endurance race on Suzuki together with Sylvain Guintoli and Gregg Black. At the 2013 French Grand Prix, Siméon became the first Belgian rider since Didier de Radiguès in to take a podium finish, when he finished third behind Marc VDS Racing Team riders Scott Redding and Mika Kallio. Sir Richard Godin Simeon, 2nd Baronet (21 May 1784 – 4 January 1854) was an English Liberal Party politician. Simeon was born in 1784, the son of Sir John Simeon, 1st Baronet and Rebecca Cornwall. Simeon was elected at the 1832 general election as the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Isle of Wight, a new constituency which had been created by the Reform Act 1832. He was re-elected in 1835, and stood down from the House of Commons at the 1837 general election. He was appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant of the Isle of Wight 1831, and in 1846. He also served as High Sheriff of Hampshire for 1845. Charles and John Simeon were his sons. Omer Victor Simeon (July 21, 1902 – September 17, 1959) was an American jazz clarinetist. He also played soprano, alto, and baritone saxophone and bass clarinet. Biography The son of a cigar maker, Omer Simeon was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States. His family moved to Chicago, Illinois. He learned clarinet from the New Orleans musician Lorenzo Tio, Jr. and started playing professionally in 1920. He worked in Chicago and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with various bands, including Jimmy Bell's Band and Charlie Elgar's Creole Orchestra. Starting in 1926, he began playing with Jelly Roll Morton, and made a well regarded series of recordings with Morton's Red Hot Peppers and smaller groups. Simeon also taught music. In 1927, he joined King Oliver's Dixie Syncopators with whom he moved to New York City.
