Silverthorn (album)
''Silverthorn'' is the tenth studio album by the American power metal band Kamelot. The album was released on the Steamhammer label, a division of SPV, in October 2012 worldwide. It is the first album to feature Tommy Karevik as the lead singer and their third concept album, after ''Epica'' (2003) and ''The Black Halo'' (2005). The concept and story are original, and features a 19th-century little girl named Jolee, who dies in a tragic accident witnessed by her twin brothers. The story deals with how the girl's affluent family handles the tragic event, leading to cover-ups, secrets, and betrayal. The cover by Stefan Heilemann shows Jolee, the main character and angel of afterlife, as an adult. Music video A music video was released for the promotional single "Sacrimony (Angel of Afterlife)". Kamelot
Kamelot is an American power metal band from Tampa, Florida, formed by Thomas Youngblood, in 1987. The Norwegian vocalist Roy Khan joined for the album ''Siége Perilous'', and shared songwriting credit with Youngblood until his departure in April 2011. On June 22, 2012, Youngblood announced on their website that their new vocalist would be the Swedish singer Tommy Karevik, who was first featured on Kamelot's album ''Silverthorn'' as the main vocalist, co-songwriter, and lyricist. As of 2022, Kamelot had released twelve studio albums, three live albums, two live DVDs and twenty music videos. Concept Album
A concept album is an album whose tracks hold a larger purpose or meaning collectively than they do individually. Niclas Engelin
Niclas Engelin (born 27 December 1972) is a Swedish heavy metal guitarist for Drömriket, Passenger, Engel and The Halo Effect. He previously was the lead guitarist for and Gardenian and the rhythm guitarist for In Flames and has been in and out of In Flames on six occasions. In 1997, Engelin replaced Glenn Ljungström of In Flames who had just quit. In 1998, Niclas quit In Flames and the band's drummer, Bjorn Gelotte, took over his position as guitarist. Engelin came back to fill in for Jesper Strömblad four times since back in 1998, when he quit. He rejoined In Flames briefly in late 2006 and again in 2009, as Jesper had been struggling with personal issues but maintained he would return. Apollo Papathanasio
Apostolos "Apollo" Papathanasiou ( el, Aπόστολος Παπαθανασίου or Απόλλωνας Παπαθανασίου; born 15 March 1969) is a Swedish heavy metal vocalist of Greek descent, who is currently with the band Spiritual Beggars. He has also sung for Firewind, Meduza, Evil Masquerade, Gardenian, and Richard Andersson's projects Majestic and Time Requiem. In 2007, Papathanasio had to opt out of certain tour dates with Firewind. His position was temporarily filled by Henning Basse of Metalium. Apollo's last releases with Firewind was " Few Against Many" (2012). On 15 January 2013, Firewind announced that the band had parted ways with Apollo. After his departure from Firewind he's continued on with Spiritual Beggars and released return to zero (2010) Earth Blues, 15 April 2013 and Sunrise to Sundown (2016). Babis "Bob" Katsionis ( el, Μπάμπης Κατσιώνης; born February 17, 1977 in Athens, Greece) is the lead guitarist and keyboard player for the heavy metal/power metal bands Stray Gods,Warrior Path, Outloud, and Serious Black; until recently he was part of Firewind but as of 2020 he has since left due to personal reasons. Oliver Palotai
Oliver Palotai (born 17 March 1974) is a classically trained German musician of Hungarian ancestry, husband of Simone Simons from Epica, best known as a member of the power metal band Kamelot and of Doro Pesch's touring band. Career He made his name playing keyboards and guitar for Doro and keyboards for Circle II Circle (as a touring member between 2003 and 2004) before joining Blaze Bayley's BLAZE as a replacement for founding guitarist John Slater in 2004. In 2005 he joined the power metal band Kamelot as a touring keyboard player, and was soon welcomed as a permanent member. Palotai left BLAZE in January 2007. Thomas Youngblood (born May 29, 1974) is an American metal guitarist, songwriter, and founding member of power metal band Kamelot. Early life At the age of 12, after the death of his father, Youngblood moved from Virginia to Florida where he started learning to play guitar at age 15. Shortly after his move he began playing in his first band with school mates from the neighborhood. Through this he met drummer Richard Warner, and they decided to start a band together. Career Kamelot was founded in Tampa, Florida by Youngblood and Richard Warner in 1991. They signed their first contract in 1994 with German label Noise Records. Alissa White-Gluz
Alissa White-Gluz (; born 31 July 1985) is a Canadian singer, best known as the lead vocalist of the Swedish melodic death metal band Arch Enemy, and former lead vocalist and founding member of the Canadian metalcore band the Agonist. Her vocal style includes both growling and clean vocals (singing). Although primarily associated with melodic death metal and metalcore, she has appeared as a guest vocalist for power metal, symphonic metal and deathcore bands, notably Kamelot, Delain, Carnifex and Powerwolf, and has performed live with Nightwish and Tarja Turunen. Early life White-Gluz was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, as the second of three children. Her grandparents were prisoners in concentration camps during World War II and managed to escape. Their experiences in the camps would go on to inspire the Arch Enemy song, "First Day in Hell". She is the younger sister of Jasamine White-Gluz who leads the Montreal-based shoegaze band No Joy.
