Silver Strikers Football Club is a Malawian professional football club based in Lilongwe, currently playing in the TNM Super League, the top division of Malawian football. The club was founded in 1977 as a social team for Reserve Bank of Malawi staff members. hence the nickname ''the bankers''. Russell Mwafulirwa (born 24 February 1983, in Zomba) is a Malawian former football player who played for Ajax Cape Town and IFK Norrköping. In 2020 went to Sweden for coaching courses. Al Jazira Club is an Emirati professional football club based in Abu Dhabi, that currently competes in the UAE Pro League. History Al-Jazira was established in 1974 as a merger between ''Khalidiyah'' and ''Al Bateen''. Lawrence Waya
Lawrence Waya (born 25 May 1963 in Mphonde, Nyasaland) is a former Malawi international football player and manager. Club career Born in the village of Mphonde in Phalombe District, Waya joined local club Bata Bullets in 1980. He spent most of his career with Bullets, but had a brief spell in the United Arab Emirates with Al Jazira Club, and finished his career with Silver Strikers F.C. International career Waya made over 100 appearances for the Malawi national football team, including seven FIFA World Cup qualifying matches. Waya won a bronze medal with Malawi at the 1987 All-Africa Games in Nairobi. John Maduka
John Maduka (born 27 September 1970 in Thyolo) is a retired Malawian footballer. He used to play for Bloemfontein Celtic until his retirement in 2009. He is currently the head coach of Durban, Chartswoth based club Royal AM F.C. Career John Maduka started his football career at 16. He played for his school Lilongwe Boys Primary School when his talent was spotted by Davie Saccur; coach and owner of Davie Cosmos. 1986 Super League Of Malawi
The 1986 Super League of Malawi was the first season of Super League of Malawi, the top professional league for association football clubs in Malawi. Overview Top five clubs from Blantyre and Districts Football League (BDFL) and top three from Lilongwe and Districts Football League (LDFL) were invited to participate in the inaugural national league championship. Two clubs from Blantyre, Limbe Leaf Wanderers and Hardware Stars indicated they would not participate, but LLW changed its decision, while ADMARC Tigers replaced Hardware Stars. The other three teams in Blantyre were the Red Lions, Bata Bullets and Berec Power Pack who, through a new sponsorship agreement, changed to MDC United.
