Silver Medallion (foaled May 1st, 2008) is an American Thoroughbred racehorse and the winner of the 2011 Tropical Turf Handicap. Career Silver Medallion's first race was on August 4, 2010, at Saratoga, where he came in first. He picked up his next win on December 31, 2010, by winning the Eddie Logan Stakes. Silver Medallion started off the 2011 year with a February 12th, 2011 victory at the El Camino Real Derby. In April, he competed in the 2011 Santa Anita Derby, but placed in 4th. It took him 3 more races before he picked up another win at his last race of the year - the 2011 Tropical Turf Handicap in December. Silver Medallion followed his victory up win a win the following month at the 2012 Fort Lauderdale Stakes. Badge of Silver (foaled March 25, 2000) is an American Thoroughbred racehorse, winner of the 2006 San Gabriel Handicap. Career Badge of Silver on his first race on April 12, 2002 at Keeneland. He continued winning, by taking the 2003 Risen Star Stakes. On January 8, 2005, he captured the Hal's Hope Stakes and then followed it with a win at the 2005 New Orleans Handicap. His last major win came on January 1, 2006 at the San Gabriel Handicap. His final race was at the 2006 Cigar Mile Handicap, where he placed in second. The Tropical Turf Stakes is a Grade III American Thoroughbred horse race for horses three years olds and older at the distance of one mile on the turf held annually in January at Gulfstream Park, Hallandale Beach, Florida. The event currently carries a purse of $100,000. History It was run as the Christmas Day Handicap through 1992. Open to three-year-old horses and up, it is set at a distance of one and one-eighth miles (9 furlongs) and currently offers a purse of $100,000. The Tropical Turf is the last of the four $100,000 stakes races on Gulfstream West's "Grand Slam I program." The Fort Lauderdale Stakes is a Grade II American Thoroughbred horse race open for three years old or older, over a distance of one and one-eighth miles on the turf track held annually in December at Gulfstream Park, Hallandale Beach, Florida. The El Camino Real Derby is a Listed American Thoroughbred horse race held in February at Golden Gate Fields in Albany, California. The race is open to three-year-olds willing to race one and one-eighth miles (9 furlongs) on Tapeta, a synthetic racing surface. Northern California's premier Kentucky Derby prep, the El Camino Real Derby was first run in 1982. It was hosted by Bay Meadows racetrack until its closing in August 2008. The Santa Anita Derby is an American Grade 1 thoroughbred horse race for three-year-olds run each April at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California. It is currently run at a distance of miles on the dirt and carries a purse of $400,000. It is one of the final prep races on the official Road to the Kentucky Derby. Silver Deputy
Silver Deputy (February 25, 1985, in Ontario – October 4, 2014) was a Canadian Thoroughbred racehorse best known as a top sire in North America. He was a son of Deputy Minister, who was an Eclipse and Sovereign Award winning runner and the 1997/98 Leading sire in North America. His dam was Silver Valley, a daughter of Mr. Prospector, the 1987/88 Leading sire in North America and nine-time Leading broodmare sire in North America. Silver Deputy was purchased for $200,000 by Windfields Farm of Oshawa, Ontario at the Fasig-Tipton July 1986 select yearling auction in Kentucky. After he won the Grade III Swynford Stakes at Woodbine Racetrack, an injury ended his racing career and he began stallion duty in 1989. Deputy Minister (horse)
Deputy Minister (May 17, 1979 – September 10, 2004) was a Canadian-bred Thoroughbred horse racing Champion. At age two, he won eight out of his nine starts and was voted both the Sovereign and Eclipse Awards for Champion 2-Year-Old in Canada and the United States respectively. He also received Canada's Sovereign Award for Horse of the Year. Although his three-year-old campaign was restricted by injury, Deputy Minister rebounded at age four with several major wins. Retired to stud in 1984, Deputy Minister became an outstanding sire, leading the North American sire list in 1997 and 1998. His most famous offspring were Hall of Fame fillies Go For Wand and Open Mind, Belmont Stakes winner Touch Gold and Breeders' Cup Classic winner Awesome Again. Vice Regent
Vice Regent (April 29, 1967 – June 18, 1995) was a Canadian Hall of Fame Thoroughbred racehorse and Canada's leading sire for thirteen years. Owned and bred by E. P. Taylor, he was from Northern Dancer's second crop and out of the mare Victoria Regina, a daughter of the French multiple stakes winner Menetrier whom E. P. Taylor purchased as a sire from François Dupré and imported to Canada. Vice Regent was a full brother to Viceregal who earned Canadian Horse of the Year honours as a two-year-old in 1968. As such, on his debut one year later in 1969, much was expected from Vice Regent. Conditioned by future Hall of Fame trainer Gordon J.
